So apparently Donaire has been offered a fight with Mijares
This is on another website, boxingscene, says since he left Gary Shaw he's gotten some offers and one's a Mijares fight. Cameron Dunkin, his manager, is quoted as saying he and his dad are interested in the fight. Obviously not totally official but I'm not sure why they would make up a story about getting an offer for the fight if it wasn't true. I guess we will see what happens.
Thoughts on the fight? Any random Mijares hate from Bilbo?
Cristian Mijares Fight Offered To Nonito Donaire
IBF flyweight Nonito Donaire (19-1, 12KOs) is a free agent with a lot of options. Since his recent split with promoter Gary Shaw, the Filipino champion has received offers for a number of big fights. The most recent is an offer to face WBC/WBA super flyweight champ Cristian Mijares (35-3, 14KOs) of Mexico.
Donaire's manager, Cameron Dunkin, informed MaxBoxing/BoxingScene.com's Steve Kim that Donaire and his father are very interested in fighting Mijares.
"I don't know what we're going to do,"; Dunkin said. "I left it up to the kid and the father. I spoke to them about it today and they're going to let me know. But they're very, very interested in the fight."
Donaire is possibly going to appear on the Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito undercard on July 26 in Las Vegas, but the undercard spot is not definite. Mijares is slated to return on August 2 in Michoacán de Ocampo, Mexico. That date can change as well.

The balls in Nonitos court now.
Watchu gonna do Nonito?
Re: So apparently Donaire has been offered a fight with Mijares
I would personally like to see Mijares/Montiel first then assuming Mijares wins a Donaire fight a little bit more down the road but I would definitely not be dissapointed if this was made.
Re: So apparently Donaire has been offered a fight with Mijares
I don't give a fukk who fights who. As long as the names Montiel, Mijares and Donaire are invloved. Any combination will do.
Re: So apparently Donaire has been offered a fight with Mijares
Montiel will be fighting Jose Navarro (this guy always gets the title shots!) on July 26... so I won't mind seeing first this Mijares-Donaire mega fight...
.
Re: So apparently Donaire has been offered a fight with Mijares
That's my thought, 3 of the only guys I follow in the lower weights are these 3 so any combination of the 3 is going to have my interest. But like Oumafan said, I would much rather see Monteil-Mijares made then anything. I would much rather see Donaire fight someone like Sakata or Kameda. I've been watching a lot of Kameda lately and some Sakata though not all of it yet to try to know the lower weights better. Fights with Japanese commentary is great.
Re: So apparently Donaire has been offered a fight with Mijares
I would rather see Montiel-Mijares come off 1st...
But oh! well whatever happens, happens.
Plus a win over Nonito would only catapult him higher up in the P4P rankings and would add to his greatness.
I'd probably move Mijares somewhere in the top 5 P4P.
Re: So apparently Donaire has been offered a fight with Mijares
Yea I'm looking forward to seeing Mijares fight again. After seeing him once, he impressed me a great deal in several aspects. He's a naturally gifted fighter, which is fun to watch. But also, he has a smart game plan approach as was evident in the match I watched him in. He knew what was coming at him, dealt with it accordingly and put on a display of boxing as nice and smart and clean as I've seen of anyone I've watched lately.
Re: So apparently Donaire has been offered a fight with Mijares
Donaire is a class act, but for me Mijares is the Golden Boy of the low divisions. I don't think that Donaire will beat him.
