Toney: Rahman...who wins and why?
I thought I would start a thread for the first time in an age because my favourite rolly polly short bald heavyweight is making his return to the ring after an extended break. James Toney. Toney is 39 and coming back off a long hiatus and against a man who he couldnt beat in their last meeting.
Im nervous about this because it could all go horribly wrong. I was a huge Tyson fan and the fade out was tough to bear. Toney is at a similar junction. We have all heard the promises about being in shape and learning from the mistakes. But at 39 and not looking good since the first Peter fight....does he have anything left?
I hope Toney can beat Rahman and then be in the mix for a title shot. He hasnt much time though.
But can he even beat Rahman? Who wins and why.....discuss....
Re: Toney: Rahman...who wins and why?
I got Rahman in this one.I thought the first fight was all Rahman. After his fight with Tauras Sykes and just looking old and very slow.Toney might be able to take the desicion. What I believe will happen is it will come down to conditioning something Toney just doesn't have anymore.A very simple fight for Rahman keep Toney against the ropes and jab him to death.
Re: Toney: Rahman...who wins and why?
I'll go with Rahman. He looked rather poor against Lawrence, but not as awful as Toney did against Batchedler (one of the worst fights I have ever seen). He looked like a shot old man, which is what he might be,

He might be. But Toney is one of the greatest fighters ever, Rahman isnt. If Toney can realise the seriousness of this situation then he might pull it off. Im not going to make any bold claims though.
Re: Toney: Rahman...who wins and why?
I will be hoping Toney wins but like the first fight Rachman just has to stay active and he wins.
Re: Toney: Rahman...who wins and why?
im going to have to go with rahman with this one, he will be the stronger of the two this time around!
Re: Toney: Rahman...who wins and why?
To be honest, I could care less about this fight. It doesn't get me excited whatsoever. We will see a fat Toney and a slow Rahman. Been there, done that. None of these guys can defeat Klitchko anyway. I'd rather see young up and comers make a name for themselves than these guys.
Re: Toney: Rahman...who wins and why?
A better title for this thread would be -
"Toney: Rahman...who cares and why?";D
Toney has wasted his natural boxing skills because he is a lazy fat slob.At a time when the HW division is wide open he could have at least been in the top 3.
But he threw it away coz he would rather stuff his face.:p

Yeah its a case of who looks the least washed up and IMO its Rahman but not by much
We can excuse a poor performance vs a bum cuz Toney could never get up for the mark in time fights but the last time he was in a biggen he showed he couldnt lift his game against Peter . He even got outboxed by a man known for being a crude slugger.
So stylistically I think Rahman clinches this as I thought he clinched it last time too. Better skills posessed by Toney no doubt but Rahman moving forward will do the more damaging work with his extra power.
Rahman points
Re: Toney: Rahman...who wins and why?
Rahman has been keeping himself busy while Toney has not been in a boxing ring for awhile. Rahman to jab his way to a points victory.
