Scottish Highlands and Britain sightseeing?
Rightio - I have approval to go to a conference in the UK in September and I'm also visiting a few labs throughout Britain.
My final lab visit is in Scottland so just before then I'm taking 3 days plus the weekend off to sightsee at my own expense (the rest is all expenses paid YAY :)).
My Q is as an Aussie that knows practically nothing about the UK what sights do you think are worthwhile seeing while I'm away.
I'll be looking for places in the Scottish highlands and places which are a day trip away from Cambridge, The University of Nottingham and Lancaster.
I'm hoping to get a day in London as well straight after I arrive but I'm likely to be pretty jet lagged and get there Sunday to start lab visits on Monday so my time there might have to be relatively restful.
I have the weekends off :)
Advice wanted thanks :)
Re: Scottish Highlands and Britain sightseeing?
Hey Sharla I'll write you a proper reply later, I'm busy today sorting things out before I go to my mum's over the weekend.
But I'll catch up with you then and come up with some ideas. :)

Thanks Scrap and Leftylee,
I'll make sure I see the lakes! What is your friend studying Lefty?
I've heard great things about the Lochs in Scottland and I've got three days off in the highlands, then the weekend free before i have my lab visit in Dundee so hopefully i can see a lot of it in that time.
I'll be in Nottingham for about a week so I will definitely drop by Scrap - thanks for the invite! :)

The Highlands of Scotland are great. All those rolling mountains and deep lochs. Some really wonderful scenery. The UK has some fantastic countryside in general. Great nature trails, rivers and streams.

Thanks guys,
I am looking forward to it! I think I'll need to get some thermals though - it's been a bit chilly here lately and I'm layered up with the coat I bought to survive the UK and still cold -
Meanwhile all the British and Canadian people around here are still in short sleeves!
