Broken hand – has anyone had similar issue ?
Guys – 4 years ago, in anger, I hit door frame twice very fast with my right hand. Unfortunately, I half missed and hit wood frame with knuckle of the small finger. The next day, as expected, the hole joint was swollen and in pain. I was able to move finger, so I figured it was not broken and I didn’t go see doc.
Months passed and pain never stopped.
Shaking hands became very painful. Also, pulling small finger to either side or up was painful. Pushing on the joint from bellow was painful. Pretty much I started avoiding using my right hand when I decided it was time to see a doc.
I found a reputable hand specialist. According to him there were no broken bones. We did x-ray, MRI (twice), CAT scan, ultra sound, but he could not find anything wrong with the joint, yet the pain was there. He tried cortisone therapy and it helped temporarily, but eventually pain would come back. Finally he decided to do surgery. He opened it up and cleaned up the joint from inflammation and loosen the ligament. After a month or two hand started feeling much better. Constant pain was gone but I had limited range of motion in the little finger and decided to wait a while before I start therapy. That was 11 months ago.
The other day, I decided to practice some basic jabs with the bag. A few minutes later, I got a little carried away and delivered punch that put some pressure on my fifth knuckle. I felt instant sharp pain. Now, I am in pain again and unable to use my right hand.
Have any of you experienced anything like this and how did you fight it. I am starting to think that this will stay with me for the rest of my life… Scary!
Thanks.

i starting to get knuckle pain from hitting the bag wiht only wraps on. Very negligent on my part. my think i damaged the nerves on my big knuckle. So from now on im going to try and pad the shit out of it. Cant really think of any other way to mend it.
Re: Broken hand – has anyone had similar issue ?
I think the problem could be in the elbow with trauma the Tendon connection in the elbow has shortened stopping the finger joint from working as it should depends where you live is your problem.

I broke my knuckle and finger before.
Although I broke the index finger and knuckle, I now have problems with my thumb, as Scrap alluded to the injury causes tendon problems, so physio may be the answer.

Can the elbow tendon also affect your forearm and wrist, AND vice versa?
Re: Broken hand – has anyone had similar issue ?
What turns the wrist is the Elbow.

Could it be that internally some of the joint tissue never healed properly and is still irritated or inflamed? You know like kind of “rotator cuff” injury where you pinch that ligament every time you move your arm so it gets inflamed and even if the inflammation is gone it comes back again as soon as you start using your arm/shoulder….
Mystery here is that doc could not see anything wrong it….

I know that injury only too well.
Scrap knows a way to fix it by wedging an elbow in your back

Re: Broken hand – has anyone had similar issue ?
Scrap - I found this advice you gave to another board member:"Put your thumb on your forearm, and wiggle the finger.Follow the muscle to the elbow, where the tendon is then come down the line 3 inch Then push muscle up with pressure about 8 times.Do it every day for a week get back to me."
Do you think this'll work for me? What is going to change after a week?
Thanks
