Miguel Cotto says he is done

Miguel is now in Puerto Rico and he says he is wont be fighting anymore this year. He is going to lick his wounds and then get back into some serious training. I think all this kid can think about now is a rematch next year :o We don't even know if Tony will still be the champ but the way things are going, belts in this division have been going back in forth into the hands of Williams, Cintron, Quintana, Margarito and now we have young Berto.

As much as I hate to see my fighter out for this long, it will do him some good. He has been trying to fight at least 4 times a year and after this butt whooping, he needs a break. I am looking forward to seeing his return next year. As far as the rumors about Tony useing ROIDS, so far they are just rumors and no one has been able to proove it.

That sucks; I was hoping to see Miguel fight sometime later this year:(

He knows what's best for his future though.

And I pray those rumors are just that. I can't imagine the b.s. that would cause; and I'd be very, very disappointed in Tony.

The rumors were heard on a radio station and I also heard other things about it being on Univision but I don't think they are true. I hope they are not but just incase before someone comes here and says it's true etc, so far we say it aint true and we know this much as it only being a rumor that is not true.

the first defeat is always the hardest to live down, but im confident cotto will be back stronger, faster and better then before. his only 27, great figthers always get back up.

Where are those rumors coming from? I hope its not from soore looser fans. It would spoil all this pretty bad if it was true.

Steroids don't give you an iron chin and would make it almost impossible for a big guy like Margarito to make the weight. It's just bs from upset Cotto fans.

As for Cotto if he comes back anything close to the fighter he was last week he can beat anybody else in the division.

I agree with my friend Titofan, I accessed message kind of nevous thinking that Cotto retired. I think this rest will be good for him after the battles he has had with Judah, Mosley and now Margarito in a short period of time. I am hoping he returns strong to dominate the division once again.

Ha-ha... I had the same thought too. But seeing how brutal the battle was... and like you said, considering his busy workrate as of late... he definitely should take a break for a little while.

Agreed misleading title when i first opened this thread i thought Miguel Cotto was retiring for good.

cotto took an ass whooping for real in just a matter of a few rounds maybe it is best for him to go back to the drawing board. especially with all the competition at 147.
