I thought Juan Manuel Marquez edged it but it certainly was no robbery like alot of people have made out i thought quite a few of the rounds were hard to score..........
I had no problem with Juan Manuel Marquez getting 1 point deducted but the other deduction was ridiculous but i didn't think this fight was the robbery everyone made it out to be does anyone else agree ?
Robbery's probably a stretch but I definitely did think JMM won it. Not his greatest performance though. Stupid fight from the get go.
Thing is this has probably become more of a word of mouth thing. I posted this video on the other board a long time ago but for a while it was almost impossible to find a copy of the fight and I'm not sure how many people have even seen the fight.

But Chris John did fight a good fight by constantly moving and not allowing Juan Manuel Marquez to get set and he even countered Juan Manuel Marquez while he was coming in on occasions.......
I do think Chris John is underrated i think he is a good fighter its a shame he doesn't travel to the USA because he is a good fighter and even if i thought he lost the fight with Juan Manuel Marquez he still did put up a good fight and showed he was at the elite level.
Saw this fight only one time. And I had Marquez winning. I need to see it again
if you happen to fight in a foreign contry, you must win convincingly, you have to KO your opponent to leave no doubt.
This could be one of JMM's off-night, he let John get close to every round and in judges eyes, it always favors the home boxer.
I had JMM winning by 2 rounds at least, if that how close the fight it, it can be given the otherway around.

After he turned down a Pac rematch.
He was asking for a lot of money claiming he is the bigger draw and not Pac. He turned down a million offer and fought John instead. He lost in indonesia together with his ego
A little counter intuitive you think? He turns down the biggest money in his career to putting everything on the line to fight for a fraction of that. Maybe he had second thoughts at the time. ???
I have the fight and seen it numerous times. I have no idea how Marquez lost that fight. I think it was a clear win for him. The point deductions were bullshiit
havne't seen it for a while but i know jmm won that fight. john kept moving and moving not really doing much but jmm landed the harder shots and had john hurt on his bike back paddeling. I didn't think this fight was close at all. I seen it a few times and never had john winning more then 4 rounds.
Mosley did the same thing when he decided to fight Winky instead of Oscar a third time, made a third the money I believe, and you know how that fight went.Quote:
