What has happened to Great Britain?
7 gold medals!!!!!
We're seventh in the table :o
I thought we were going to do absolutely shit this Olympics but we've been amazing by our usual standards.
We could be on target for breaking double figures for gold medals.
We're currently higher than Russia in the table, has this ever happened before?
Maybe we might actually do well in London 2012 after all.................
Re: What has happened to Great Britain?
Every dog has its day. You probably won't win sh#t in 2012;D
Re: What has happened to Great Britain?

Re: What has happened to Great Britain?
this team we have sent , has by far had the most funding . which kinda sums it all up , invest money and you get gold.

No Andre unlike Australia , who as we both know invest massivly in sport so they can excell in everything they take part in. Britain specialises in sports that no other nation takes part in to look better than we actually are ;D
Re: What has happened to Great Britain?
I dont think our goverment backs our athletes :-\ maybe help a bit.
But most have day jobs and get up early to train and then again at a night.
Their work often gives them time off to train too. Not sure who pays the Australian institute of sport where they do a few months prior to competing and sponsers help too.
I imagine the larger countries would have full time coaching and aim for future events continually .
Re: What has happened to Great Britain?
Would have been a certain 8 with Frankie Gavin.

Re: What has happened to Great Britain?
It's kinda funny that the US count the medal table by total amont of medals won, while the rest of the world count gold medals first. Of course this is purely coincidental, right?
GB has been good at funding smaller sports, thus making it possible to win many medals without too much competition. Denmark is doing the same, and despite a tenth of the GB population and an even bigger gap in funding, we've managed to grab a few medals in rowing, sailing and track cycling. New Zealand is another small country doing well here - other contries, e.g. Ireland, should consider taking notice, if they want to improve their Olympic standing.
Re: What has happened to Great Britain?
The medals table doesn't mean an awful lot really... countrys as big as China and America etc... the size of them...
Not finding gold medal winners out of populations those big would be like falling into a sea full of tits and coming out sucking your thumb ;)
Re: What has happened to Great Britain?
They just (well not just but it was just on TV here) silver in some kind of rowing race. I have no idea why I was watching.
Re: What has happened to Great Britain?
Don't know about Medal count,But you just have to love Womens Volleyball. Its really..................competitive.All the yelling and bouncing.Good stuff ;D
Re: What has happened to Great Britain?
Indoor volleyball is like 10 times the sport of beach volley ball. Give me Logan Tom over Kerry Walsh anyday thanks. Really though, I actually like watching indoor volleyball, strange. And I saw that rowing race too. They lost out to the Chinese I think it was, women.
Re: What has happened to Great Britain?
