** Klassen TKO's "Matecas" Medina in 2**
Just saw that Klassen TKO'd "Mantecas" Medina in 2 rounds.
I think this should mark the end of Medinas career. When you see him physically you can see it in his face all the scar tissue and flat nose. He clearly shows signs of the tear and ware he has encountered as a boxer.
His nickname "Mantecas" translates to "Lard" which I believe refers to a job he had as teen.
A career that spans from 1985 to present.
Capturing titles such as the 3 time IBF Feather Champ, WBC Feather title, WBO Feather title, with multiple defenses. He tried HAAAAAAARD to capture that second weight title at Super Feather but he just couldn't get it. Which I'm sure is why he's continued fighting this long because he wanted that title as a Super Feather.
"Matecas" fought some of the best fighters of his generation. Fighters such as; top contender Tyrone Jackson, (McGuigan conqueror) Steve Cruz, Troy Dorsey, Tom Johnson x3, John John Molina, Alejandro Gonzalez, Luisito Espinoza x2, Naseem Hamed, Derrick Gainer, (Ncita conqueror) Hector Lizarraga, Victor Polo, Paul Ingle, Frank Toledo x2, Johnny Tapia, Juan M. Marquez, Scott Harrison x2, Casius Baloyi x2, Kevin Kelley and Malcom Klassen.
As impressive of a resume as you'll see for anyone 130 and below. Medina always fought with heart and anyone who's seen him fight will tell you that. One of the most exciting fighters of his generation sucks he wasn't marketable but he always came to fight and he gave it his all time in and time out.
I'll never forget his battles with Dorsey, Naz and he actually gave Naz 1 helluva fight that night catching Naz, Espinosa, Ingle what a fight!!! Medina fought back to the end, Tapia, JMM and Harrison.
Manuel "Mantecas" Medina one of Mexicos finest... :appl:

Nice one Mick...respect. Talk about a solid true professional in Medina. In the lines of others out of Mexico, turned pro at just 14 ,Just insane.Talk about a work horse, awesome rate and punch out put but truth be told,he couldn't hurt a guys feelings when he landed Lol....Ya nailed it also,He needs to walk away and hang them up.And 'Loss' To Tapia was one of the worst blind judge moments Imo.
Re: ** Klassen TKO's "Matecas" Medina in 2**
Good one buddy, you California guys have a South African boxing channel now? ;)
Medina has fought more years in his life than he has not fought, now would be a great time to retire. Kudos for the post CMM, and Kudos to Medina for always bringin what he could to every fight, can't ask for any more than that.
Re: ** Klassen TKO's "Matecas" Medina in 2**
The way they robbed him against Johnny Tapia was a disgrace
Re: ** Klassen TKO's "Matecas" Medina in 2**

Re: ** Klassen TKO's "Matecas" Medina in 2**
Former IBF junior lightweight champion Malcolm Klassen (23-4-2, 13 KOs) brought the career of five-time world champion Manuel Medina (67-15-1, 31 KOs) to a sad end when he won their IBF 130lb eliminator in the second round at Hammanskraal on Friday night. Referee Andrew Smale stopped the bout at the Carousel Casino 1:49 into the round. Medina went down in the first round without throwing a single telling punch and without taking a particularly damaging blow. He survived the round but there was no doubt that he would not last until the end of the second. A couple of glancing blows sent him to the canvas again and he was intelligent enough to stay there until the referee did the appropriate thing. Klassen should be a worthy challenger when he meets Baloyi, a six-time champion, for his belt. The tournament at the Carousel Casino north of Pretoria was presented by Branco Milenkovic of Branco Sports Productions

Well hopefully he's alright with money and can get out with decent health.
On a lesser and more selfish note I am getting shit on in the prediction contest this week.
