Is Joshua Clottey The Modern Day Version Of Marlon Starling ?
Although not as slick or crafty as Marlon Starling i think there very similar with there defense and countering abilities whats your thoughts ?
Re: Is Joshua Clottey The Modern Day Version Of Marlon Starling ?
they are nothing like each other in any way , Starling was a defensive counter puncher , and Clottey likes to mix it up , i personally wouldnt mention them in the same breath.

Just been watching some more of his fights recently and im very impressed with him at his best he was a terrific fighter and i recently watched Starling vs Breland 1 again after what you said in that thread and the scorecards were a joke no way Starling was losing by that much and Breland was going on the canvas to get a break he was faking majority of the time but i did find it funny when Breland went down for about the 8th time Starling tried to help him up ;D

In the sense that they are good but not great welters, then yes.
If they fought one another that would be an interesting bout where I see Marlon prevailing.

Marlon Starling was more defensive but he did come forward with a high guard defense landing good counter shots similar to Joshua Clottey and has limited output just like Clottey.

Top form Starling would totally outpoint Clottey. Starling did everything that Clottey does just as well, but he was quicker on his feet. His biggest problem was lack of consistency. Some nights he didn't show up in top from. Clottey always seems prepared.

Was Curry in his prime with only 14 fights under his belt?

Curry beat him both times, no controversy.
