Rough Sparring Today A Question.
Ok so i sparred pretty heavily today and got buzzed by a few shots, but i gave as good as i got and it was a great sparring session. But now i have quite a painful headache and the pain is at the back of my head, its the first time i experienced it i was just wondering if thats normal.
Re: Rough Sparring Today A Question.

What do you mean ? i was little rusty because i took few weeks off boxing, and i comeback and got caught with a few shots that i shouldn't have got caught with. And there was alot of rough stuff on the inside, but what exactly is this im experiencing ? because i've never experienced it in any of my Amateur fights or any of the sparring sessions i've had before.
Re: Rough Sparring Today A Question.
Your head probably got jarred,if thats the case, you WANT to go no contact for a couple of weeks, otherwise you'll only compound the damage, your head needs time to heal up,a major league headache,is a sign of take some no contact time

Ok thanks for the advice have some rep.
Re: Rough Sparring Today A Question.
Ice me thinks your neck muscles and upper back and are in shock from the shots you took, they have tightened up. This brings on Headaches, try doing the Chicken stretch every Hour dont Spar.
Re: Rough Sparring Today A Question.
Notice me and Scrap agree on a key point, dont freaking spar for a bit.Wether its your neck or your cranium, put the car in the shop for a bit
Re: Rough Sparring Today A Question.
I would say that's not normal. Take some time off and remember to always come to the gym well hydrated.
Re: Rough Sparring Today A Question.
You got hurt, its boxing, getting hit is to be expected.
Think why did I get hurt, ask did I cause this myself?, what can I learn to prevent this in future?

what he said, what i do is if i know i done something wrong i ask the coach how to improve it or i ask him what i done wrong, i used to get hit loads because i used to end up scrapping but now when i sit on my back foot i dont get hit anywhere near as much and it feels so much better

Its not the getting hurt part Donny, i was just wondering if the pains in the back of my head were normal. I am following Scrap's/TM advice and im taking 2 weeks off from sparring, i was a bit rusty thats why i got caught more than i should.
But i did enjoy the sparring session it was a good even session although it got a bit rough and heated at times, it was still a good session its just the pains in the back of head didn't start to happen until a few hours later. And i had never experienced it before so i just wanted to make sure.
I think another reason i got caught more was because i done stupid macho thing, because when i got caught with a big shot i would get a bit reckless. Which i don't normally do but it was a good learning experience and i'll for certain learn from it.

A few hours later puts me or Scrap on the right here, every time Ive gotten a pure hydration headache, its while sparring, and its usually the front of my head not my back of my head. So yeah you either got your bell rung,or tweeked your kneck, either way shut it down for a couple of weeks and see how you feel then.

What I'm saying is you actually got hurt, as in damaged.
What you expierienced was most probably a mild concussion, so you've got to learn from the expierience and avoid it occuring again.
Well done for taking a break, others are not so cautious.
