<-- My dad and his boxing friend --> (Picture Inside)
Ever since I can remember my dad's told me he was good friends with one of Mexicos greatest fighters ever. I remember him telling me this growing up but everytime I asked who he said one day I'll tell you.
As the years passed here and there I'd ask him as I rolled my eyes. So when are you gonna tell me about your great boxer friend. All he would say was don't worry when the time is right I'll tell you.
I remember one day asking my uncles who was my dads friend? My uncles said we don't know? I was like yeah! right if he was friends with my dad he was friends with you guys. They laughed it off.
Also their was times where I wanted to guess but as I got older it just felt like it was his thing and I didn't want to ruin it for him. So I pretty muched stopped asking and or trying to guess.
Now flash forward to 2008 about 3 days ago, and my dad calls me and tells me hey! stop by the house I'm ready to tell you about my boxing friend. I said I'll be there around 6:00 and tell lady (which what I call my mom)
I get to their house and sit on the kitchen table my moms cooking dinner and my dads got a white sheet of paper 5x7 turned upside down so it looks like a picture of some sort. As we talked, he told me remember how I always used to tell you I was good friends with a great Mexican boxer?
As I smiled I said yes, pops (which is what I call him) I remember.
I also remember you never wanting to tell me who he was.
He said well let me explain why I didn't tell you at that time. He said because I couldn't prove to you that he was my friend. I said prove?
Pops I was 10, you could have told me you were roomates with Ali and I would have believed you. He laughed and said, no I know you better you would have wanted some proof. I said you do know me well. ;D
He then tells me, it's not that I didn't want to tell you it's that I couldn't remember where I had put the picture away. I spent hours looking for this picture as the years went bye but I could never find it. At one point I thought I lost it and said great, how the hell Am I gonna tell him now with no picture.
I couldn't help it but laugh and said come on pops trust me I said even if you didn't have a picture now I'd believe you.
He says but I do, so now you've got no choice.... ;D He said I know your going to recognize him right away he said. You've often mentioned his name in talks with me and your uncles. I sware when he handed the pic. to me and I turned it over I fell off my chair...
I yelled out loud, OH! Shit! you were friends with _________________.
No fucken! way! Oh! shit! I could not believe my eyes.
My pops was there standing next to him in a picture.
(Not that anyones interested or anything but I'll post some of the stories he talked to me about him)
So now here's what I want to do. I'm gonna post the picture of my pops with his friend and I want to see if anyone recognize's him. (My pops is the one with the bowe tie. ;)

Its not ringing a bell at the moment i thought of all the Mexican boxers in the Hall Of Fame, i been thinking of Chuco Castillo, Ruben Olivares, etc but none of them have his features totally lost on this one at the moment, hope someone gets it soon because this is hard.
