A Fond Farewell
To Jason Williams, who retired yesterday. Pretty sad although he was just a shell of his former self for the Heat anyways.
Jason Williams is probably the first favorite player I ever had and imo is the most exciting player in NBA history with the ball in transition. The master of the behind the back, behind the head over the shoulder pass and I very clearly remember the day he went absolutely stupid and hit someone in transition in the lane with a behind the back elbow pass. Behind the back elbow pass. It was all star weekend and the next night lightning struck my backyard in the middle of the All Star game.
Regardless of what you think of him off the court, stealing reporters pens, smoking weed in the locker room bathroom or just the very fact that they call him white chocolate, he was for a few years the most electric point guard in the league. Sure his defense wasn't great and he didn't run a half court set well until late in his career, get him running and get people running with him and you have a highlight real.
He was also the co-subject of the Nike commercial with Randy Moss which is still one of my favorite commercials of all time. I found it on Youtube but I swear there is an extended version somewhere Nike rarely cuts just 30 second commercials and I know there was a longer one.
oh well.

Re: A Fond Farewell
After he left Sacramento he was never as electrifying as he once was, actually alot of his coaches told him he needs to slow down on alot of that flash which is why it toned down over the years

Re: A Fond Farewell
Why does his career seem short lived?
Like he hasn't been around for that long?
Anyway, Damn! Williams was sick with it...
Def. one of the best passers and ball handlers the NBA has seen.
Just fucken mind blowing with his passes.

Re: A Fond Farewell
He had the talent to be a great player. But not the discipline.
