Re: DAm...is nate campbell broke alrdy?
He should have been compensated for the Guzman farce . The the Dominican was fined then that money shoulkd have gone to Nate and nobody else. Undisputed champion and hes bankrupt . Says all you need to know about the current condition of this sport .
Re: DAm...is nate campbell broke alrdy?
Dan Rafael reported that before the Guzman fight Nate was in big trouble financially, and was really counting on that money. Nate owes the IRS 100K and he has like five kids to support.
Also, Nate has never really had a chance to make big money yet. His fight with Diaz was a purse bid, so he probably got like 25% of the purse. Guzman was going to be his first big chance to finally make money.
On the good side, the bankruptcy ends his contract with Don King. Without King and his insistence on having "options contracts" for all of Nate's opponents, Nate will be able to get better fights.
Re: DAm...is nate campbell broke alrdy?
Look at the big picture here this is a very smart move.
As Lance posted, this ends his contract with King and now it's up to Nate himself to make the right moves to pay off what he owes and start making some money.
I'll tell you one thing he ain't broke....
Think of it of him having a credit card debt, a HUGE credit card debt.
I'm sure Nates fine, he just doesn't have 100K in his account to fork over to the IRS.
Re: DAm...is nate campbell broke alrdy?
It is bad enough that Guzman didn't make weight, but by calling the fight off altogether he cost his opponent a much needed pay day. What a POS. I doubt we will be hearing from Guzman anytime soon.
Re: DAm...is nate campbell broke alrdy?
That sucks. I hope things turn out good for him

i think bankrupcy is different now......because i heard that the irs can actually go after ur money becasue they changed it...im not sure
but lets just hope theres some1 out there to help this dude out cause he sure as hell deserves the help.he worked his butt off and beat diaz where i thought he didnt even have a chance. hes 36, not much left hopefully he can pull though.
with bankruptcy there is no loan or anything thing for a house
i have more respect for this dude because he didnt let his financial situation distract him from his fight.
dan just posted a article and it says that he would of made 500k after bonuses
Re: DAm...is nate campbell broke alrdy?
WAIT one more thing did guzman even get fined??????
if not wth is that
Re: DAm...is nate campbell broke alrdy?
His punishment was described by Dan Rafael as a "slap on the wrist." And the WBA, in their infinant wisdom, has officially absolved Guzman of his unprofessional conduct at the convention in D.R. this week.
Re: DAm...is nate campbell broke alrdy?
I know in an interview on the night of the fight Campbell told Jim Grey that he was still getting paid as he had upheld his side of the bargain.
Did King back out of that promise then?
Hardly suprising from him to be fair

Having "options" should be illegal, it keeps pimp promoters like King alive since the 1970's.

I agree. King's really the only promoter that DEMANDS it for every voluntary defense. That is why the Klitchko's will not fight any King fighter that isn't a mandatory.
Re: DAm...is nate campbell broke alrdy?
isnt don jr just as bad as his father?....lol
cause if he is then we in trouble even if king retires we still have to deal with his son
Re: DAm...is nate campbell broke alrdy?
If he is bankrupt, it's because he was with Don King!
