Re: Duddy Vs Hill ugh.....
I'd love to see Duddy fight Sergio Mora or Joel Julio.
Further down the road how about a tear up with James Kirkland or Alfredo Angulo?
If he can make the weight he should be fighting at 154 lb in my opinion, I can't see him beating any of the 3 middleweight champs, but at 154 it's a bit more open. Verno and Vernon are far from unbeatable and the light middleweight division has far more exciting matchups for him.
Just consider Mora, Kirkland, Angulo, Santos, Philips, Forrest, Martinez, Julio, Ishe Smith, K9 Bundrage. Or in the UK how about Bradley Pryce, Anthony Small or Jamie Moore? Tons of great matchups.
At 160 outside of his losing title bid against Pavlik who is there to fight? I can't think of any decent American prospects or British fighters who appeal at 160. He's not going to fight Sturm or Abraham, and is probably unlikely to get Demers, Asikanen etc as well.
All the best American and British fighters around that weight class are in 154 and that's where he should be imo.
Re: Duddy Vs Hill ugh.....
I completely agree, he came in under last fight and he didnt look "cut" or anything. He could make 154 pretty easy IMO. But anyone in the top 50 would be better than Sam Hill.....

All he showed in the Demers fight was that he can take shots. Just a step back IMO, not happy at all.
He probably wants a nice tune-up with little risk because I think he fights Ronald Hearns on an HBO card in Jan. That will be his highest profile fight so far.

Do you think Duddy would beat Mora, Kirkland, Angulo, Santos, Philips, Forrest, Martinez, or Julio?
Although he is a warrior and has a likeable personality, I haven't been impressed with Duddy. I think Hearns outclasses him.

You're right, probably not. Maybe his handlers know that so they try to steer him into a title shot before he faces guys who can beat him. If a fighter gets exposed, financially it's better to do so after having won a a title & made at least a little money.

What has Hearns ever done to make you think he is a class above Duddy? He's been put in nearly as soft as Chavez Jr. I'm not saying Duddy is all that great, but Hearns has not impressed me at all. Duddy is a HUGE step up for Hearns and Hearns is probably right on the level, if not below the level, of most guys Duddy has fought. There is a very good chance that Hearns gets stopped in this fight.

I should have said it differently, it's not that I think Hearns is anything special, I just don't think Duddy is all that great. What has Duddy ever done that makes you think he'd beat Hearns? His biggest win is over an-over-the-hill Howard Eastman?

The main point with Duddy though is that he is a hugely exciting fighter, he's got a really solid chin, can punch and has a huge fanbase.
Whether he not he can beat all those guys is irrelevent.
I always make a point of watching Duddy fights, and if he were to lose a fght that wouldn't change things.
I hate in boxing the way fans feel a fighter shouldn't face someone who might beat him, really who cares.
In MMA even a top fighter rarely goes more than 4 or 5 fights without getting a loss it seems and it doesn't do their careers any harm.
Duddy at 154 would have a pick of entertaining fights for us fans to enjoy. I'd love to see him in with Kirkland, Julio or Angulo. Ishe Smith would be an interesting fight as well.
Whether he might lose doesn't make me want to see the fights any less. I honestly have no idea who would win all the fights above. I reckon Duddy would do a lot better than people think.
Him and Kirkland would be a great matchup. Kirkland is blowing guys away but how would he cope with a tough Irish kid like Duddy who can take a shot and come back himself? That would be a great fight and we'd learn things about both of them for sure.
We've seen Duddy dig deep and come back from being hurt but we havn't seen Kirkland have to extend himself yet.
Great fight imo.
Re: Duddy Vs Hill ugh.....
Duddy has been improving his boxing skills, he did alot better in the Smichet fight when he decided to box instead of trade. He boxed pretty good against Howe, but he was expected to. His defense is still horrible but improving, I think if he does fight Hearns he has a good shot if he can pressure him. Hearns has looked beatable to me, he definately doesnt have the same pop as his pops.

His wins over Bonsante, Eastman (even past it), and Campas (even past it), are much better than anything Hearns has faced. Also, looking with my eyes, Hearns isn't exactly a complete fighter. Also, Duddy has fough his whole career at MW, and by moving down, he should be stronger at that weight. Duddy isn't great, but neither is Hearns, and given that Duddy has been in bigger fights against tougher opponents and has displayed good chin and decent power, Hearns is a definate underdog in this fight.
Re: Duddy Vs Hill ugh.....
I would expect Hill to have a bit too much for him
Re: Duddy Vs Hill ugh.....
You dick. ;D If Sam Hill beats Duddy I will be soo ashamed, oh man getting beat by a punching bag with trunks on, damn. If he even looks confused or has trouble landing, its gonna look bad for em.
Re: Duddy Vs Hill ugh.....
hell, I just remembered that Sam Hill was that guy who covered up for 8 rounds against that Sebastian Demers guy on ESPN, that guy's horrible, doesn't even try to win, in all seriousness reluctantly I have to admit probably even Duddy can beat this guy.

I like Duddy too. Classy guy. Don't get me wrong. Tough as nails and for what he doesn't have in talent, he makes up for in heart. No doubt. I wouldn't want to see him fight Angulo - He'd rip him apart.
