Roy Jones Jr - Calzaghe card *Now thats value for money!*

This is an amazing card!

Firstly of course we need say nothing about Roy vs Joe.. This is the big fight and everyone knows about it.. Its going to be big.

BUT if you are not aware of how awesome the undercard will be..

Let me tell you.

Firstly condolences to dimitry salita who is still fighting on the undercard..

Undefeated junior welterweight prospect from brooklyn NY, was to fight kotelnik (Apologies for mis spellings?) for his wbo light welterweight title.

But Andriy pulled out with what was at first said to be an injury suffered in training camp.. and then apparently turned out to be disagreements with the purse he was getting for the fight.
Translation: Your going to get blown away by Salita and his opinion is its worth holding out for a little bit more cash for his troubles and doctors bills.. although god forbid he should be seriously hurt.
Salita's new opponent is yet to be named i believe but hes a good fighter im sure he'll get a win and hopefully get his shot later.

Moving on Zab Judah makes his return to junior welterweight where in my opinion.. it is not what i would call wide open.. but its not as tight as it was before.. and the prospects of Zab rededicating himself and putting in some big fights with the likes of Kendal holt, torres, Hatton, paulie (Its only going to happen if the money is there) is pretty mouth watering.. I look forward to seeing some old school Judah power too at 140.

Also not to be unkind but derrick gainer will fight on the undercard, Im not so interested.. He's close friends to Roy and thats probably why he is on the card.. i cant see him making any noise in future but i say let him make his money on roy jones undercards and put food on his table and keep a roof over his head.

Frankie ' El Gato' Figueroa, From the Bronx,Ny will fight on the televised portion of the undercard against none other then gavin rees.

Gato, who has recently been picked up by roy jones jr's square ring promotions of late after getting rid of his old promoter who was a joke..
Is in my opinion on of the real good up and coming fighters in the boxing world. and with the right promotion from now on should be in the world title picture very soon. he should have been fighting often and has been in the gym all year round waiting for his oportunity to come and now with roy jones promoting him hes got a named fighter, a television spot.. and he'll offer you a great combination of bang for buck and boxing talent..
I hope the calzaghe camp and rees have looked up Frankie Figueroa because if they didnt and they turn up thinking this is another no name fighter.. they are in big trouble.. Bigger trouble then having signed the fight anyways.

So televised portion of the card is..

Frankie Figueroa - Gavin Rees.

Zab Judah - Tbc.. I believe they have a pretty experienced Jr Welter in mind but im not sure anything is official as yet.

Roy Jones Jr - Joe calzaghe.

Predictions are as follows.

Zab judah - Blowout within 4.

Frankie Figueroa - Outclasses rees and stops him in 6

Roy Jones Jr - Late round stoppage.

Yes that is a decent undercard is Zab defintly still fighting i know he turned down the chance to give the brite a chance, also didnt realise Figueroa was fighting he has been Hattons main sparring partner a few times, intresting to see him fight.

Yeaah if there is one thing good about frankie figueroa getting no fights due to poor promotion it is that the way in which he keeps himself busy and how great a manager he has he gets great sparring

For example
5-0 as Chief sparring partner for:

Shane Mosely - Build up to what was going to be the Zab Judah fight.

Ricky Hatton ('Won') - Vs collazo. (I had it a draw :p And Collazo Is my boy)
Of course this was supposed to be a camp for what was to be a vivian harris fight before he pulled out injured late and ended up stepping up to fight Lou after a brief break in camp wondering whether they would geta fight etc..

Arturo gatti (Won) Vs dammgard

Miguel Cotto (wON) Vs Zab Judah.

Andre Tsyurkan (Spelling?) (Won) Vs camacho jr NABF TITLE.

sure im missing something.. :P

But yeah, real good experience real good fighter.. On the up with the new promotions deal too

If El Gato confirms anything about Rees pulling out i'll spread the word on here but i havent heard anything of the sort as yet..

11-0 (10 ko) Danny Jacobs of Brooklyn NY will also feature on the undercard of the jones - joe c card.

And Gato will be facing Ivan Hernandez as a replacement for a dropped out gavin rees..

Ivan hernandez is very small.. Having fought last at featherweight and stopped twice in his career already, although by credible names in vasquez and montiel..

He is much to small to stand up to gato even if gato had half the class of names like vasquez.. That bieng said.. Frankie Figueroa is the real deal and this is a dangerous fight for a small guy like that to step in.

Im going to call it stoppage in four for El Gato

I don't mean to be a downer here.... but I think the undercard for this PPV looks absolutely terrible.

Just i have followed or am a fan of every fighter included on the card so it works perfect for me, pretty much custom made for me i guess :p

Turd of an undercard i think.

And the cherry is the Slapper vs the Dollar Tour Hoare.

Sounds to me like it is falling apart Zab aint fighting so ive read and neither is Rees.

And Gato has a replacement opponent but i really liked the original line up..
