Say it isn't so Joe...Tatsuyoshi continues
Do not like to hear this one at all.Three time Bantamweight Champion Joichiro Tatsuyoshi 19-6-1 (13) is scheduled to return to the ring tomorrow in Thailand for the 1st time after a 5 year absence. He will be facing...cough...2-5 (all 5 losses by KO) Phalangchai Chwatano.Apparently The Japanese Boxing Commission requested the fight be prevented from taking place fearing for the welfare of the national hero but Thai officials are standing by the promotion and it remains set.
I have always liked the brash & flamboyant but Proud Tatsuyoshi. This can only lead to an eventual bad ending down the road. Not sure what would possess him to believe he can reign once more or if he is hurting for money.Tatsuyoshi was a cocky warrior with a low guard and liked to mix it up.A career with some heated battles against punching machine & tough as nails Victor Rabanales TKBY 9,W.12,a great Champion in Daniel Zaragoza TKBY 11,L.12,Paulie Ayala T.W 6, four division Champ S. Singwancha TKO 7,countryman Yasuei Yakushiji L.12 (?),Veeraphol Sahaprom KOBY 6,TKBY 7 etc.etc was marred with eye injuries ( Detached and torn Retina's), knee injuries, and multiple retirements should stay concluded at this point!! Hope it is just one and done,he should not be fighting!
Re: Say it isn't so Joe...Tatsuyoshi continues
For starters he should not be fighting.
He is in no condition to be liscensed to fight.
Leave it to the Thiland Commision to grant him a liscense.
:(

Which reminds me the Sahaprom KO were fucken brutal... :jabbing:
and if the reports are right that you can't hang in sparring then your just an accident waiting to happen.
Hope somebody has the balls to pull the plug on it.

Yes, seems a bit brash and proud. While living in Japan, I remember seeing him on a tv show called Gachinko where he looked like he still had some gas in the tank to comeback to boxing.
It was a great fight when he faced Yakushiji. Kept coming back and forth.

Fully agree.Even at his best, his defense was secondary....hate to imagine what it will looks like now and do not want to find out.
Found this nice little package ....some good, some bad highlights.

Chances are he'll fight someone who will KO him and hopefully it's just that a TKO and no serious injury.

Looking like a soothsayer my man.....you could just see it coming.Apparently he took a humiliating beating, damn!
Very sad stuff and why & how this is allowed to go on at this point is a sad commentary on some aspects of the politics and greed that permeate the sport. The fighter is to blame as well but this is just a tragedy waiting to happen. The skill is gone, the memories faded...all thats left is the stubborn pride and the need for money.Thailand commission is shameless for making this even possible.
