Kessler wants winner of RJJ-Calzaghe....

WBA super-middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler is heading to New York to seek a clash with the winner of Joe Calzaghe v Roy Jones, who clash on 8 November.

"Soon I will leave for the States," said the Dane after his fearsome three-round demolition of Danilo Haeussler.

"I hope to get a new match as soon as possible and if Bernard Hopkins, Kelly Pavlik, Calzaghe or one of the other top contenders are ready, I'm ready.

"Calzaghe told me he did not want a rematch but I'm still hoping."

Kessler, 29, lost his WBA and WBC titles against Calzaghe last November, but won back the vacant WBA belt against Dimitri Sartison in June.

The Calzaghe defeat at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium remains the only defeat in the Dane's 42-fight career, with 31 of his wins coming through stoppages.

Calzaghe himself - who faces Jones at Madison Square Garden - has insisted that his 12-round win over Kessler was one of the toughest of his career and that the Dane is underrated in the US.

The undefeated Welshman, 36, says he expects the Jones fight to be his last, and if he were to carry on Kessler is unlikely to be the most attractive bout financially.

Bernard Hopkins - who Calzaghe defeated on points in Las Vegas in April - has also promised to be ringside at the Garden.

His stock has risen rapidly after this month's demolition of Pavlik, and "the Executioner" says he is desperate for a rematch with Calzaghe next year, with the Millennium Stadium mooted as a potential venue.

Kessler should be more focused of the winner of Jacy-Taylor, or froch.

just when people we slaggin him for takin easy fights as well... At least he want to get back in the mix... seems to me he could be chasin some big bucks thou...

Kessler vs jones, hopkins or calzaghe?

Well i really cant see hopkins and calzaghe doing this one, but lets say that jones beats calzaghe then he will probably want to retire on the win because its worth more than a win against kessler.

Others are right, he needs to focus on lacy, taylor, pavlik, froch and miranda.

He could even move up and challenge dawson at a later date.

If kessler moves up well and has a warm up at light heavy then he could prob do well against dawson.

I think Kessler is far underated. In terms of his skill and talent. Why is it hard for him to get big fights? Because nobody wants to fight him. Because the risk is more than the reward. You can't make alot of money by fighting Kessler, but you can get your ass beat.

I highly doubt Kessler gets a fight with either of them.

He needs to ignore the old guys. It's winner of Lacy-Taylor, Froch-Pascal or Bute next. It's unfortunaue for him that the winner of the first two may face each other, I also doubt Bute is interested in actually fighting at all for a while. If Taylor wins and is still not bothered with the new WBC champ (as mandatory contender he'd be obliged to take the short end, and doubt he'd do that), then he's a strong possibility.
