Novembers UK vs USA - Who wins?
Novembers UK vs USA - Who wins?
Joe Calzaghe has predicted that the UK will triumph in November 3-0 over the USA in the 3 big fights.
November 8: Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones Jnr - Madison Square Garden, New York City
November 15: David Haye vs Monte Barrett - O2 Arena (Millenium Dome), Greenwich, London,
November 22nd: Ricky Hatton vs Paul Mallignaggi - MGM Grand, Las Vegas
How do you see the final score and who will win the fights?
Re: Novembers UK vs USA - Who wins?
For me I see it as a straight forward 3-0 to the UK
Roy Jones is so shot its a joke and even a Calzaghe with badly damaded, brittle hands will force a stoppage. Jones doesn't have the legs to get out of the way and Calzaghe has superb handspeed and timing.
Even though Joe is faded himself - this is a mismatch and a nice fat retirement cheque for Joe.
Haye will KO Barrett as soon as he catches him flush. Haye is faster and bigger and Barrett while still a decent heavy, has often relied on his sound boxing and decentish movement to keep him away from trouble. He won't be able to escape from the lightning quick Haye.
Hatton should beat Malignaggi in an uneventful affair. Malignaggi will move and hold - Hatton will stalk and hit in the holds. I think Rickys forward motion will wear down Malignaggi to a fair if unspectacular points win.
Re: Novembers UK vs USA - Who wins?
Well Rob even though i think Joe Calzaghe is the favorite, im still rooting for RJJ because he was one of my idol's growing up.
RJJ is still faster than Joe Calzaghe, he is the bigger man and he has a good straight right hand lead. Which is Joe Calzaghe's biggest weakness, so there is some positive's for RJJ.
But im hoping its 2-1 for the Brits with RJJ beating Joe Calzaghe.
Re: Novembers UK vs USA - Who wins?
I think 3-0 to the UK fighters. It's around a 5/4 shot (Fenster's pointless betting info).
Calzaghe by late-ish KO.
Haye by early KO 1-3.
Hatton by close-ish PTS.
If one loses it will either be Haye - knocked unconcious.. or Hatton - cause he's finished.
Re: Novembers UK vs USA - Who wins?
I think JC will win quite a omfy decision, but will lose the first 3 rounds ;)
Hatton will win a close decision against Pauli
Haye will Stop Barrett
so 3-0 to Britain.
Most likely to lose = Haye ;)
Re: Novembers UK vs USA - Who wins?
I say Britain 3-0
Hatton UD Malignaggi
Haye KO Barrett
Calzaghe UD Jones Jr

Re: Novembers UK vs USA - Who wins?
2-1 Britain Jones will win for the USA but im not counting out Paulie or Monte to spring upsets.

Can any fighter afford to lose the first 3 rounds vs Roy Jones?

This version of Jones yes! I think he will 'Gas Out'
JC lost the first 4 rounds to Hopkins and still clearly won imo
Re: Novembers UK vs USA - Who wins?
Id be very surprised if it isnt 3-0 to the Brits
Re: Novembers UK vs USA - Who wins?
Generally, outcomes to boxing fights are not easy to predict, but the fights mentioned are unusually difficult.
Easiest Pick: Haye over Barrett - mid round stoppage. Assuming Haye's talent translates into the heavier weight class, he should outclass Barrett.
Most Difficult Pick: Calzaghe over Jones - decision win, but I can see Jones' style giving Calzaghe problems. Three months ago, I thought Jones was an easy win for Calzaghe, now Jones has convinced me that he may spring a major upset here. Then again, I can see that Calzaghe could dominate the fight and win decisively. Really tough one to call.
Hatton over Paulie on points, but semi-controversial. Paulie is a poor (or destitute man's) man's PBF - good movement, good feetwork, fast etc. As mentioned above, his problem is that he has no power. He ain't knocking Hatton out, but he may win on punch output and defense. Will Hatton box for 12 rounds?
If you changed the title to "November & December UK v. North America," I would probably also include Carl Froch over Jean Pascal, late round stoppage.
4-0 UK.
Another way to look at it is what outcome would be most shocking? I think Barrett beating Hate would be surprising as would Paulie beating Ricky, but if Jones beat Joe, I'd be surprised, but not as shocked.

I think Joe can cause as long as he makes Jones work for those 3rounds i dont see that much of a problem Roy carnt fight for 12 rounds no more and Calzaghe can.
Re: Novembers UK vs USA - Who wins?
3-0 U.S. All the underdogs are gonna pull it off.
