Is Arthur Abraham being overlooked?
Last night he defeats Raul Marquez by 6th rd RTD...He has blasted out Miranda and every one of his opponents over the last 3 years have had an 80% win ratio with the exception of one....
We don't get to see as much of him as we should but I am starting to wonder...(Not saying he is but curious on everyones opinion)... if he is a sleeper champion just waiting for a big fight to emerge as one of the elite...
Thoughts?
Re: Is Arthur Abraham being overlooked?
he has to fight Pavlik , its gunna be a good one.
Re: Is Arthur Abraham being overlooked?
Abraham could be the best 160 fighter there is, but he'll always be criticised if he keeps fighting in Germany against weak opponents.
Dark Lord is right, he needs to fight Pavlik, that would be a good figt, my main worry is he is too inactive for too long of most rounds and would lose on points
Re: Is Arthur Abraham being overlooked?
He needs big fight exposure.I was under the impression that he was looking to go Stateside after such a devastating performance against Pantera. The fight to be made Abrahams and Pavlik, assuming Kelly can take care of a comeback opponent along the lines of a Marco A. Rubio,Lopez etc. I'm leaning towards Abraham right now.
Re: Is Arthur Abraham being overlooked?
Too many people assume he can expose Pavlik's faults just like Hopkins did, he just doesn't fight like Bernard, nothing like it.
But he does have the power to get to Kelly. I'd still favor Kelly but it might be a deal where I'd change my mind. Good fighter, bit boring and very frustrating to watch at times but solid.
Re: Is Arthur Abraham being overlooked?
First time i seen him was when he beat Howard Eastman and have been impressed ever since ;)
Re: Is Arthur Abraham being overlooked?
I'd like to see him unify vs. Sturm, then move on to Pavlik. Pavlik's not going to want to fight a guy like Abraham in his next fight after the beating he took from Hopkins. I've been high on Abraham since I saw the first Miranda fight (which I feel he won if I disregard the TKO controversy).
Re: Is Arthur Abraham being overlooked?
As styles often make fights, AA's is suited for KP, but KP would be slaughtered by JC....IMO, of course.
Re: Is Arthur Abraham being overlooked?
Abraham V Pavlik is the fight that must happen early next year for AA to be fully recognised World Wide.
Re: Is Arthur Abraham being overlooked?
Its a natural , both have stood up to big shot in the past, so lets get it on !
Re: Is Arthur Abraham being overlooked?
Rep to those allowed for your opinions
Re: Is Arthur Abraham being overlooked?
Yeah he is. i think a Pavlik fight would get him the exposure he needs win or lose. If he doesn't win he'd give a good account of himself. Maybe a fight against Taylor might be a good way to judge his progress though and it would give him credit to take on the Pavliks etc.
Re: Is Arthur Abraham being overlooked?
i think he should fight sturm first while pavlik is fighting Rubio. that way abraham will have or could have the wba and ibf. while pavlik has the wbc wbo and Ring titles. either way it should be a good fight, and i wouldnt mind seeing wat AA could do at SMW either, that division is finally shapeing up.
Re: Is Arthur Abraham being overlooked?
I used to follow AAs career closely but I lost interest around the Jantuah fight plus to be honest here if you go back and watch those fights like the Taylor fight and more recently the Gevor & Ayala fight he just becomes boring at times in the sense that he's FAAAAAR to patient for boxer whos obviously a puncher and can crack.
He especially frustrated the shit out of me in the Taylor fight. I could not believe he couldn't take him out. AA fought far to patient at times spending an entire round just staring at Taylor not doing anything. Signs of this can be seen in the more recent fights with Ayala and Gevor.
I just think he hasn't been consistent, he'll have performances like the spectacular win over Ikeke for the title then follow that performance with 2 lackluster ones vs. Taylor and Jantuah.
He then looks good vs. Demers but then looks snoozy again vs. Gevor and the brutal KO is what saved his ass from being ridiculed from that performance.
Looks vs. Elcock and then again looks snoozy vs. Ayala in a fight where Ayala was outlanding him and outworking him and yet again a brutal KO saved him from bad talks from the media.
He's now looked good vs. Miranda & Marquez but can he keep it up or will he go back to the patient high guard boxer who is 1 fight short of being outworked?
I think AA beats Sturm, I would like to see AA vs. Pavlik that fight def. needs to happen...
