What Horror Movies Have You Watched Recently...
In the past few days, due to being sick at home, I have watched Abominable (3 out of 10), Doomsday (4 out of 10). The Signal (1 out of 10), and One Missed Call (5 out of 10).
I plan on seeing Mirrors, Pulse 2, Return to Sleepaway Camp, and a few others.
Only One Missed Call was actually decent. I'd recommend it for those who want their ladies cuddling up close. It's genuinely spooky! ;)

Just watched The X-Files: I Want To Believe. Billy Connolly as a pedophile priest. That was perhaps the only amusing thing about the movie. The rest of it was a cross between MEH and SO WHAT!?!
It had a big buildup but it was basically the tv show with a bit more gore.
Again, I have to say SO WHAT!!!! http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...ons/icon10.gif

I watched Event Horizon for second time since it came out. It was THE scary movie back when I was a kid. Watching it recently was still pretty trippy. As far as I'm concerned it belongs in Sci-Fi horror right next to Alien, and The Thing. Basically it's a twist on something that really familiar to scary movies. What would have been a haunted house is a space ship of pure evil. No ghosts here, but each character's darkest secrets manifest into living nightmares.

Automaton Transfusion
Awesome title, but I could only recommend it to die-hard zombie lovers. Low budget. Generic plot.
Big Bad Wolf
I loved it. The werewolf talks but if you are looking for a new take on the genre this is it. Not scary but fun to watch. The Werewolf rapes a woman. :-X (Bilbo will enjoy that scene for sure.

Damn, I just saw Let The Right One In and it was pretty decent though weird for a horror movie. The climactic scene is genuinely creepy though.:o

Normally I don't go for horror, but I watched Blair Witch Project for the first time a month or so ago. It was pretty effective for one reason. As the film progressed, they reacted pretty much in the same way as I would in similar circumstances.

I liked Blair Witch for one reason,I had a buddy who took film,so Ive been subjected to numerous student projects over the years thanks to him. It really does look like a student film that just ends up taking a left on you. Like if everything goes right, theres your A-grade on the final project, but nothing goes right at all. And that last scene makes you jump.
A similar film came out around the same time called the Last Broadcast,I saw one of its premiers.
It was all I could do to not hit the director for seriously wasting 2 hours of my life,I mean I had to walk by him and everything. I so wanted to ask him,"Did you leave anything on the cutting room floor at all?"

That just came on cable a few weeks ago and I had to watch it. I saw this in the theater and it was the first movie in years to =stick= with me. In particular, it was the video of what happened to the original crew. It looked like someone had reached down someone else's throat and pulled EVERYTHING out amongst barely glimpsed bodies (it looked like someone might have been raping a corpse).
One Missed Call was awful. Anytime I can pick out plotholes without even trying the movie is going in a bad direction. I remember seeing the trailer for this and not hearing anything more for like 6 months. I'd read something that they were desperately trying to rework the script into something watchable and in the end they just failed. It was worse than Pulse, both movies were based on superior Japanese originals. I think the problem with a lot of these remakes on Asian films is they don't really translate. I mean, if you watch some of these horror movies in their original form they make no sense. And then somebody figures it'd make a good movie for the mainstream American audience. Just because it worked for The Ring and The Grudge doesn't mean we can import Asian horror wholesale. I'd be more satisfied if they just took the basic concept and wrote a completely new story. Just like Shutter. I saw the Japanese original, which was actually pretty good, but the American version wasn't terrible, it was just BORING. I didn't care about any of them and thought they all should have died a horrible death. I'm only saddened that movies like Battle Royale and Tale of Two Sisters are being remade. OK, I haven't seen Tale of Two Sisters. But I wanna.
Spiral. Go rent Spiral. That's a good, original film. Nice twist at the end too.
