The December 6th pac vs hoya is not gonna do more then 650k buys!
Black Friday and this harsh economy to top it off the 54 dollar ppv price! and the bad after taste of casual fans from the floyd jr vs oscar over hyped fight will not order this fight.
Sorry to say this but the hype of this fight is not big pacmans filipino fan base will only do 170 thousand tops because the filipinos around my way always pack into a house like 30-50 tops and watch the fight.
here is an article talking about how the ppv will do

Re: The December 6th pac vs hoya is not gonna do more then 650k buys!
No. I think fight will do more than 650k.
With video games sales, movie ticket sales, and retail revenue all very strong this holiday season, people are still buying leisure items regardless of the bad economy. I think that amount of promotion will get the fight around 700K-800K but I don't think that the fight will do a million. These guys were planning on probably doing at least 1.2-1.3 million and I think they're gonna fall short buy A LOT.
This fight just doesn't have a huge amount of appeal amongst regular sports fans, and what I'd really be worried about is the true lack of support from boxing insiders and fans. There quite honestly isn't megafight buzz around this one, it feels like just another PPV. The buzz a week before the Mayweather - ODLH fight was INSANE!!! It was a legitimate superfight.
With the NFL, NBA, and College Football & Basketball in full swing, people are interested in other things. The fight is gonna compete with the Big 12 Championship game which wouldn't be that tough if the matchup was better. My buddy (who's Mexican) is having a fight party, but I'm missing the fight because I'm being dragged to a comedy show Sat night. If I felt stronger about the fight, I would find a way to watch this fight, but I'm not terribly interested in watching this one. I just wanna find out what happened later that night on ESPN.com.
The fight is a bad matchup, and people aren't stupid. In a superfight, casual sports fans usually hear about it from a boxing fan friend, and then they want to be a part of the spectacle so they tell they're friends, pretty soon everyone is talking about the fight which forces media to cover it more, which creates even more buzz. It's like a snowball effect. In this fight, not that many boxing fans are telling their friends. There's almost an empathetic feeling for this fight. Luckily, the undercard and the Mexican and Filipino fanbase will keep this fight from being a complete disappointment. If the fight was 49.99 it probably would do more buys too.

Great post my friend. I also agree with the price 54 bucks is wayyyy to steep
Re: The December 6th pac vs hoya is not gonna do more then 650k buys!
I read that Full Throttle Tecate and Coke are all offering rebates that can bring it down to $5 for the PPV which I think with more promotion that could help sell but yeah, it's bad right now with the economy. I think the baseline is how well UFC 91 did. I don't know yet but certainly boxing and a name like De La Hoya and then Pacquiao would do more then that. Not sure by how much though and I don't think it will come close to the 2 million Oscar and Floyd did even though Manny is a much bigger star then Floyd.
Re: The December 6th pac vs hoya is not gonna do more then 650k buys!
This is a joke fight and it doesn't deserve to do serious buys. I love Pacman but I hate the idea of DLH lining his cash-filled pockets by fighting a guy he has about 40 functional pounds on.

The ufc 91 was like 40 bucks so it was able to do 800k which is amazing in this economy plus Boxing in America is not as big as it is...Thats why I am going for 650k buys.
no way it even passes the 1.5 million mark or even gets to the 1 million mark.
Not many people know about this fight and sad to say the people want a drama queen like floyd jr to hate to make them order the fight.
hbo thought calzaghe vs jones jr would do around 700-800k buys with the 24/7 and look how horrbile it did 250k buys thats a failure especially with the millions invested in both fighters and the series.

Yeah, right when JoeCal-RJJ only did 250K even with a 24/7 and Hopkins-Pavlik only did 200K, I think Golden Boy and Top Rank started getting worried. I knew about the JoeCal-RJJ 24/7 and I didn't even watch more than 10 mins of the entire series. I didn't really care about the fight. And I'd like to consider myself a fairly hardcore boxing fan.
No way this fight does over a million buys IMO, people aren't gonna wanna pay to see two "good guys" fight each other when the match up is this bad.

well joe isn't big in america, and jones isn't anymore.
oscar and pac have a lot of friends and fans, casual to celebrity. Joe and Jones dont have that well maybe jones use to. I think these fans and friends will generate other people to buy.

Most people I know and have talked to about the fight think Manny is going to win.

same here i went to church the other day and people i didnt even know were talking about it.
and Moono no matter wat u say the fight will sell because Oscar fights always sell and Pacman has alot of fans who will buy the PPV.
Re: The December 6th pac vs hoya is not gonna do more then 650k buys!
Its all about supply and demand, it seems the boxing world has not clued into this over a century old economic philosophy.
Re: The December 6th pac vs hoya is not gonna do more then 650k buys!
America is so cheap compared to how us Brits pay our way but $54 for a PPV is about £26-28 or so? am I close?
It's only about £15 for us Brits (so about $30)..........you can get a loaf of bread for that over here.....just;D
Re: The December 6th pac vs hoya is not gonna do more then 650k buys!
My uneducated guess is closer to a million than 650K.
Re: The December 6th pac vs hoya is not gonna do more then 650k buys!
It will crack the million mark I reckon also
Re: The December 6th pac vs hoya is not gonna do more then 650k buys!
It will break 1 million buys. $50 is not that expensive. That's the cost of one haircut and the fight is worth it. Economy is doing good already. Price of gasoline has been going down.
This is the event of the year in boxing and casual fans will be buying this fight.
