Hasim Rahman could make history today....
.... as the worst 2-time heavyweight champ in history.
There are guys like John Ruiz who have technically been "champions" multiple times, but we all know that sanctioning body belts mean nothing.
If you look at the linear title, there are a few guys who stick out as being among the worst linear champs in history: Moorer, Leon Spinks, Briggs, Rahman, Douglas, etc. But none of those other fighters was ever able to repeat the feat, there were 1-hit wonders.
If Rahman wins today, he won't be linear champ, since there is no lineage since Lewis retired. But everyone considers Wlad the #1 heavyweight out there, so if Rahman wins, he would have to be considered a legit heavyweight champ, for the 2nd time.
Don't get me wrong, I think Rahman will get destroyed today. It's just interesting to think about what it would mean if he did pull off the huge upset.

wouldnt be half as bad as seeing Valuev pick up another world title just for the fact nobody can hurt him because step ladders arent allowed in the ring.
Absoloutely no boxing ability whatsoever other than a lop handed jab that always ends up in a complete different direction to which he threw it at.
demeans the whole division by having valuev in it
Re: Hasim Rahman could make history today....
Wouldn't he be the worst 3 times heavyweight champ...?First he got it from Lewis, then he became(without a fight!!!) for the second time, when Vitali retired and well maybe today...but I wouldn't bet on it...;)
Re: Hasim Rahman could make history today....
That would really be another sad moment for the heavyweight division and for Wlads legacy if Rahman wins. I dont se it hapening but he has a punchers chance. He has to start fast though and I dont think he has the drive anymore.
Re: Hasim Rahman could make history today....
It only takes one bomb. Wlad doesn't have the best chin in the world. In terms of skill Wlad is light years ahead of Rahman, but I've seen bums win before.
Re: Hasim Rahman could make history today....
I dont think Rahman has a chance, doing a weigh in without taking your top off is a bad sign your not in the best of shape, hes there for the pay cheque imo.
Wlad KO 4.

No. His second reign was as an alphabet champion; not The World Heavyweight Champion.
Big Difference. John Ruiz was an alphabet champion; Mike Tyson was The World Heavyweight Champion.

The man who beats the man. Or if the title becomes vacant I think most boxing fans would agree that The Ring Magazine has the most legitimacy in determining the True champion.
Re: Hasim Rahman could make history today....
Rahman does not deserve this shot, In his last fight he almost got sparked by JT who got beat by the plodding Peters twice who got spanked by a guy that just got off a 4 year vaction, Klitschko in 3.
Re: Hasim Rahman could make history today....
Thats got to be the end of Rahman. He's lost two in a row by stoppage by my reckoning. Forget what the official records state. Toney stopped him.
