British sports personality of the year awards tommorow night
And boxings very own joe calzaghe is in the running for his 2nd successive win along with the likes of chris hoy, rebecca adlington, andy murray and lewis hamilton.
Personally think Hamiltons F1 world title will win it for him on the night though quietly confident JC can make the top 3
Britains world sportsman of the year is also up for grabs and im guessing pacman will now be one of the contenders alongside phelps, bolt and nadal!!!

Nobody should really care less about such a pointless prize. I really dont get the appeal of this. It means nothing.

Nice thread!I was waiting for someone to make one based on the British Sports Personality of the year.I know Calzaghe should end up as a runner up in the award! Its obviously Lewis Hamilton will win it!Mind you saying that i might still shot a £5 on Calzaghe to win. He'll have good odds.I wonder if i'll be able to bet on him at the local bookmakers on a EACH WAY bet??I remember when i put about £20 on Calzaghe to win it in 2006 after he boxed off Lacy head in one of the best displays in a english ring.I thought he'd win it,so i went straight to the bookies and backed him at a great price(something like,15/1)and i was certain he'd win it and i'd pocket £300 but toffee nose Zara Philips won it instead:-X:-X,as you can guess i was not happy one bit. There's no way the public voted on the phone lines for her to win it!!I mean who the hell is she and what has she done in the sporting world. She only won it because she is related to the royle family.
Spoilt brat!!!

I dont know why you would bet on this kind of public fodder. Stick to the fights, football and proper sports. You cannot win betting on random stuff like "sports personality".
Just mad, it is.
Re: British sports personality of the year awards tommorow night
It makes me laugh this award for two reasons.
1.Personality award??
Lewis Hamilton has the personailty of a gold fish, its a joke it needs re naming as the sportsperson of the year, its fuck all to do with personality.
2.Who fucking cares its the BBC sports personailty half the people up for the award are never even shown on the bbc?? Its a pathetic award in truth.
I still will watch it more to look back at some of the sporting highlights of the last year, i hope the young swimmer wins it she deserves it and for once she seems a lovely girl with a nice perosonality.

What i hate about it is that Zara philips won the 2006 award based on voters phoning up and putting her name forward to win the award!!Who the fook voted for her??No one thats who but she still won the award. That was a reall BIG con.I lost out on a big win at the bookies because of her.:mad:That year was fixed for sure!!!

The whole thing is a bit of a joke, i remember the 2005 one where they gave Ricky a 2 minute slot to talk about his win over Kosta, typical one of the best performances by and english boxer ever and they didnt give it the credit it deserved.
Zara Phillips that one also made me laugh!!! I mean who actully watches that sport?? The media probably covered with a round up page in there sports section, like i say its quite an enjoyable programme just for that fact it covers all the best sporting moments of the year.
Some of the past winners is just pathetic Zara Philips Micheal Owen (mr personality)
I think all in all Chris Hoy or Rebecca Adlington are the most deserving.
Re: British sports personality of the year awards tommorow night
Has anyone been to the bookmakers to put a bet on this?I've shot a daft £2 on Calzaghe to win it.I was walking past the local bookmakers in town and thought,"Ok he'll most proberly not win but if you feel that you might get big regrets then why dont i just put a small wager on him!"
I got him at 66/1.
Yes i know you'll be all saying that i've wasted £2 but i've lost out loads of cash in the past by not backing a bet when i should of.The way i look at it is,its better safe than sorry.

They cant really hold a boxer that high up when half of the hoofs want it banned.
I can hear the Bonny Prince and all his crew now;
"Ohhh eww but we carnt vote for that! its it's so so repugnant ;
beating each other around the ring and such.
Its waste of good leather I tell you!
"Mumsie call out the media tell them to vote for someone on a push bike please".Yes thats more like what we want; someone in a nice yellow jersey going for a peddle through the Alps. "Have we won one of those this year?
I say 'Torquin old chap' you did mighty well at polio last season ,oh look the suns come out, tennis anyone?
2 quid straight down the shitter.;D
