Sergio Martinez-"Mean" Joe Greene is the undercard to Berto-Collazo
according to ESPN and boxrec, this is set for the undercard of the Berto fight on HBO on Jan. 17, most likely in Vancouver. Why Vancouver :confused:
Greene has never really blown me away but who knows maybe he's a rise to the occasion type guy. He's solid I guess, does everything fairly well but nothing great IMO. Might be a bit too soon.

Yeah that's a pretty good "small" show for HBO.
I'm not sure either fight will turn out great but at least there's some intrigue to both fights.

Admittedly not having seen Martinez a great deal and much is made of his through drubbing of capable Bunema seemingly out of no where last outing....BUT....dman the guy impressed.What a shot in the arm to 154 and pretty much off that fight,I think Greene is in very deep.Nice enough guy Greene,Has shown a little improvement with movement though his last fight with Torres (?) was just an ugly,grueling affair where the final bell could not sound fast enough!I think Martinez has waaaay too much movement and hand speed for Joe to cope with and Green's best chance is to take advantage of Martinez's swagger and low hands/cocky guard...because I cannot begin to see Him out boxing Martinez,no way.
In a way I think this is Green's 'people' putting him into his sink or swim moment...."lets see what this kid really has at the next level".all in all a decent match up

I just read it in Steve Kim's Final Flurries on MaxBoxing, and no, it's not set in stone yet.
Here's what he said.
"I hear that the January 17th 'Boxing After Dark' show that features Andre Berto-Luis Collazo and Sergio Martinez-Joe Greene will end up at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, MS"

It made no sense to have it in Vancouver to be honest. At least with Pac, you could kinda justify it because of the number of Filipinos in Vancouver.
It would've been really depressing to see them stage a HBO-backed fight in an 18,000 seat arena with only 5,000 people in attendance.
