Sooner or later someone is going to get hurt very badly
Back in 2006, Jimrex "The Executioner" Jaca from the Philippines gave Juan Manuel Marquez a resonably copetitive fight before he was iced in the 9th stanza. You may recall this was a televised fight in which the referee told the badly cut JMM that he was well ahead so he did not have to continue. For that indescretion, the referee was suspended for 6 months.
In 2008, former WBA super featherweight title holder Yodsanan "3-K Battery" Sor Nanthachai, stopped Jaca in Thailand in the 6th round.
Then, just last night (12-19), "3-K Battery," 57 (KO 46)- 3 (K02) -1 and a gaudy KO percentage of 75.41, met Ali Muzvai in his pro debut. Ali was iced in 4. 3-K had beaten such notables as Lakva Sims, Steve Forbes, Walter Hugo Rod riguez, Lamont Pearson, Ryhhei Sugita, and many more. Two of his three losses came in 1994. He has only lost once in his last 51 outings.
This is the kind of mismatch that does no one any good and will only result in a tragedy--sooner rather than later.

I think Thailand is the worst about these kinds of match-ups. They will put anyone with a pulse in the ring against a champ. you are absolutely right. These are THE most dangerous bouts possible.

Thailand is definitly the worse. Indonesia is very bad, and Slovakia is starting to give both a run for their money. Grim.:banghead:
Re: Sooner or later someone is going to get hurt very badly
i agree thailand and indonesia are the worst and i can't stand them for it. Plus they wont send they're fighters world wide to see how good they really are. But they do have good scraps sometimes, I just hate how they make mismatches and make a big deal when they're favorite pummels the poor oppenent just trying to make a living.
Re: Sooner or later someone is going to get hurt very badly
Completely disgraceful, everyone involved in these mismatches is doing the boxing world a huge injustice. Their moral compasses but be f@cked up as well, its really inhumane to feed someone to the wolves like that, someone who has a zero percent chance of winning, and a 100% chance of taking unnecissary punishment.
Re: Sooner or later someone is going to get hurt very badly
Pretty disgraceful, if anything you have to hope that its such a mismatch that it ends early instead of the guy taken a drawn out beating just for the guy's health, people don't usually get seriously hurt from early KO's.

Right, and the sad thing is a lot of these journeymen that get thrown into mismatches got where they are because they are reasonably tough/durable. And most of them are way too tough for their own good. And like you said, THATS when things get very dangerous.
Re: Sooner or later someone is going to get hurt very badly
I CANNOT BELIEVE they would throw a guy fighting his pro debut against a guy 57-3 with 47 KOs. A former world champion. That is absolutely disgraceful thatt they would make it, and absolutely disgraceful 3 K would accept it.

3-K Battery is a company that sponsers (advertises) with boxer nicknames. I may change my name to 3-K Battery if they will sponser me.:kissasskc4:

One of THEE worst IMO...
Pongsaklek Wongjonkam the quality of his opposition is disgraceful especially for a so called champ.
Evidence of this can be seen in his opponent Lito Sisnorio (I believe is his name)

I didn't know that until I went out to Nepal recently, and saw the 3K Batteries in a shop window (if they can be called that in Kathmandu) and then it twigged with me why that guy had such a nickname. Didn't realise it was sponsorship though, assumed it was a nickname similar to Duracell Bunny (there must be a boxer with that name too?).
