Do you have Walkabout bars in Australia?
Re: Do you have Walkabout bars in Australia?
I guess that would kind of pointless surely?
I mean that would be like having an English pub chain in England or a yankee theme bar in America

:) ask a silly question...
I'm assuming there are seats also?
In Canada, people tend not to walk around in bars unless there is a reason to do so.

wait, so a walkabout bar is a bar you walk around in, as opposed to only sitting? i'm confused.. if i go into a bar, i can either walk around, play pool, throw darts, or just stand in the middle of the floor.. or i could sit at the bar, or sit at a table..
is that not normal?
Re: Do you have Walkabout bars in Australia?
Or is it a group of people walking around serving you drinks off of trays like on the beach or in the park or they come into work;D or something .
Fukkin great idea. have to change the law to accomodate it though.
Or maybe you are like the dislexic who walked into a bra.
we have those, the women are in them now, its summer;)
Re: Do you have Walkabout bars in Australia?
A while ago we had Crikey! bars.. Named after the favourite saying of our RIP animal star Steve Irwin... They had been thought up and planned out before he died, but were released just after he died.. I don't think they did very well, but you can probably still get them around somewhere... I was meaning to buy one to see what they tasted like but never got around to it and then I didn't see them around any more.
Never heard of a Walkabout bar...
Do you have a picture of one or the wrapper? So it's marketed as an Australian chocolate bar??
"Walkabout" is a reference to like, a pilgrimage that our native Aboriginals would do... "He's gone walkabout" would meant someone has gone off on their own on a journey, of discovery or something, and would be gone quite a while...
Like if someone is missing from work and someone is like "Where is Jim?", you could say "He's gone walkabout"... It could be taken as a bit offensive though if Jim happened to be Aboriginal.. As it usually is taken with any race specific things... Like, if there was a black guy named Bob and someone was like "Where's Bob?" and another says, "Bob is off buying some watermelons"... type thing...
umm actually that's probably not really the same.. But anyway, never heard of a walkabout bar..
Re: Do you have Walkabout bars in Australia?
Walkabout bars are a British Aussie themed pub chain.
They seem to be in every major city here in the uk, they are pretty decent, most have all Aussie staff as well and the food has loads of Aussie meals.
Where I live in the southwest we have one in Exeter, Plymouth and a big one in Newquay. I also went to one in London that was completely unlike all the others, it was just this huge boiling cauldron of a room with a big dance floor, no oxygen and a temperature high enough to boil an egg.
We didn't stay long there, but normally they are nice laid back bars where you can order plenty of good food, watch sports on the big screen and get served by surfer dudes and Aussie babes.
They are very popular over here.

Oh I thought he meant bars like candy bars..
I can't imagine an Aussie bar, and no we don't have them here :-)
I suppose it's like Irish Pubs here.. There are many of them in our city and always the same, laid back and you can get good food there.. Usually a good live band etc... Very very popular..

There are Irish bars in every corner of this planet. They're more common than Chinese corner stores. ;D
