~Solo Boxeo video tribute~
Alright just came across this video right now thought I'd share it.
Just a few notes on the video to look out for...
- The very 1st show in 2000, showcased Antonio Margarito vs. Benitez.
- It has the infamous Rafa Marquez mishap loss to Garcia where he loses track of the count and gets counted out by the ref.
- The blondie you see in the begining is JMM beating Sean Fletcher.
- Dolly Parton guest walks in between rounds.
- It has a very young Cotto in 2002 vs. Sparkman
- It also shows the fight between Fernando Velardez and Morales little bro. Diego Morales. Morales ahead on all the cards and having dropped Velardez 4 times his corner enters the ring but the ref. let's the fight go then he DQ's Morales because of his corner AFTER he actually had let the fight go. The crowd started throwing things at Fernandez as he walked out.
- It shows IMO, one of the most contraversial fights ever and one I've often mentioned on here but didn't have video of it. It happened in 2003 between Jorge Paez Sr and Silverio Ortiz. While in a clinch the ref. steps in to call a break as Ortiz throws a left hook and catches Paez. The ref. originally ruled it as a TKO win for Ortiz. During the post fight interview Paez said something along the lines of "I just want to briefly tell the Commision they can all go fuck themselves". The result was later overturned as a DQ win for Paez.
- It has my favorite 1 round fight of all time between Manuel Gomez and Jeffrey Hill. For those interested who haven't seen it you can look it up on YouTube by the fighters names. ;)
- Calderon eating a beef kabob.
- During one of the trips to Vegas 3 men of the production team lost their lives in a truck accident. Which is the image of one of the men and the ten count bell.
- Cotto taking a bite out of a b-day cake.
- Sandro Marcos devastating body shot TKO win over the past his best days Johnny Tapia.
- A younger JuanMa.
- Also one that I think would interest a lot of people is Kelly Pavliks 1st official knockdown. I've read people on here say it was a "flash knockdown" well I personally didn't think it was when I saw the fight and I still don't think it is now. You be the judge...
- It shows clips of Steven Luevanos 1st loss which came in the hands of the tough and rugged Martin Honorio.
- Jorge Paez Jr 1st loss which came vs. Ramon Guevara when Guevara catches him with a sweet hook.
- One of the more WTF moments on the show was when Cottos older bro. got in an arguement in between rounds with his trainer and uncle Evangelista Cotto. The clip doesn't show the whole thing but Cotto himself had to get up from his seat to try and mend things.
- Finally it shows clips of the very exciting fight between Tomas Villa and Rogers Matagwa. For those who haven't seen it look it up on YouTube, strong candidate for FOTY.
Well here's the video hope you enjoy...

It sucks really...
The other day I started thinking about something.
One of the sponsorers of the show was Ford being that the automotive ind. isn't doing so well I think that also had some type of impact on it.

Yes, it does suck. :p
I wouldn't doubt that Ford might have pulled out, all the big 3 have been cutting out sponsorships, but who knows, maybe the broadcasting company just wasn't able to make enough money off the fights.
What ever the reason, I'm bummed.
Thanks again for posting that video. It was just as good watching it the second time, as it was the first. ;D

Boxeo Azteca has been on for some time now.
Although they are not on schedule meaning they don't do regular programming. They only do the occasional monthly show.
It would be cool if they jumped on and did regular show from Mexico. We would get to see lot's of top caliber guys like they've had.
Archi Solis, Soto, Sosa, Montiel, Mijares, JCC Jr., Arce etc. etc. etc.

A little bit.Learned much back in school in S.D...but you would not want to repeat it in public:-X
Aside from some of the best action seen on the tube in a decade....Solo Boxeo has taught me Tecante,Grand compion, and "Whui iss mass Machos" and yeah, some others;D
Re: ~Solo Boxeo video tribute~
Really though this should be bumped, CutMeMick, you forgot to mention the Jhonny Gonzalez clips one near the end where he launches Reynaldo Lopez across the ring and the other one that's shown in my avatar, where he blasts Irene Pacheco through the ropes and into retirement.
