If Hatton didn't fight Floyd...
In another thread I was talking about Hatton's run towards the number one P4P when he finished off 140 and moved up to 147, fighting some relatively good fighters and keeping his big zero..
If he hadn't of fought Floyd.. If Floyd say, went up to 154 and wouldn't come down, or some other reason like injury etc.
Would Hatton of possibly made it to P4P #1 upon Floyd's retirement?
Would he have probably stayed at 147 and maybe gotten stronger there with each fight? Or do you really believe that he's a 140 pound fighter, would never have really adapted to the big guys at 147, and would have gotten his beating eventually from a Margarito or a strong 147 Cotto?
The Floyd fight really did cut short his shooting for the moon... I think he would have just been a little to small at 147 and with that, just would have fell a tiny bit short of the bigger guys there and doesn't quite have the skill to make up for it... So would eventually be against a too tougher opponent and get dominated eventually over the 12 rounds..

bump in hopes of a move :)

Re: If Hatton didn't fight Floyd...
140 is a think division, that's why a fighter like Hatton cleans house. He's a good fighter, not a great fighter. 147 is chocked full of great fighters and a lot of the good ones would have a good shot at beating him. Could Hatton handle Cintron's power? Would he win a rematch with Collazo? How much trouble would he have with Shane? I have no doubt that guys like Cotto and Margarito would eat Hatton alive, but I also think he'd lose to Berto, Judah and Clottey (though Judah is a wildcard). There are too many studs for Hatton to get through to gain entry on a p4p list if he fought at WW. Oh, I forgot Williams. Williams would eat his lunch AND make him pay him for it.
Re: If Hatton didn't fight Floyd...
He should of never gone up to 147, he had a better chance at 140. He already looked horrible against a lesser oppenent at 147 then he decides to fight the p4p best at the time at 147. Stupid decision really.
Hatton belongs at 140. His undefeated there, until pac gets to that division. ;D
