Anybody see Edison Miranda last night?
Not sure if it was even televised (stateside?), but Edison Miranda came back yesterday in his first fight since the loss to Abraham, fighting at 175 and beating Manuel Esparza by KO3. Did anybody see it? And what is the general consensus about Miranda at this point? Will he be a force, and what's with this 175 anyway?
Also, on the same card, Sechew Powell won the (and I kid you not) "vacant International Boxing Association Intercontinental light middleweight title". How is that for an important title?
Finally, the card marked the debut of 19-year old Puerto Rican olympian Jonathan Gonzalez who won in 'impressive fashion' (per Fightnews). Maybe a prospect to look out for?

I think the 175 is truth be told that Miranda struggles his self at amking 160/168.....He has a bit too much muscle on his frame and not enough fat to burn off when making weight
Re: Anybody see Edison Miranda last night?
I was there. He did what he had to do. Took the first round slow. Blasted him hard in the 2nd round (put him down once and had him practically out on his feet it seemed, I was surprisd the ref didnt stop it).
Early in the 3rd Pantera hit him with a nice left hook. Esparza dropped and blood was pouring out of his nose. He never got up. From the look of it, it must have broken.
He will fight at 168lbs. He is plannig on fighting again in 2 months so he didnt want to make it to difficult to make weight. He actually weighed in at 172.5lbs. Hopefully 2009 will finally be his year. Good luck Pantera!
