Well at one time the refs would always have part in the scoring....I may be mistaken but I think way way back the ref is the man who solely scored the bout.......
The reason being is that while the judges score the bout and you hae 3 because each one catches a different angle of the bout the ref sees all of it close up and can give the most accurate assumption because of
the ref last night didnt seem to have the best view when he scored that bout with the sheffield lad
Refs shouldnt be allowed to score fights because their priority is maintaining control of the fight and the fighters safety. I think if s/hes thinking about whos winning the fight on a round to round basis, it is taking away from his/her ability to referee the bout as effectively.
