Andre Berto, Luis Collazo, Future Match Ups.
If both fighters don't rematch eachother who should they fight next, IMO i would like to see Luis Collazo/Carlos Quintana, Andre Berto vs Joshua Clottey. With the winner of that little tournament fighting eachother. Then the winner moving on to bigger fights with Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Shane Mosley, ETC.

I wouldn't mind seeing that.
Clottey vs. Berto is a fight that needs to happen soon.

Me either i feel Joshua Clottey is a solid fighter and a good all rounder. But he doesn't do any 1 thing great a bit like Glen Johnson, no doubt Joshua Clottey is a solid counter puncher with a good defense.
But he often fights in a one pace kind of way and doesn't really up the pace. And sometimes he isn't highly motivated either, i feel Andre Berto beats Joshua Clottey with his superior workrate/speed.
Joshua Clottey at his best could be competitive with the best Welterweights, but i don't think he beats most of them. But he does deserve his shot against Andre Berto no question.

Re: Andre Berto, Luis Collazo, Future Match Ups.
I am not the biggest fan of Clottey, and like somebody said, he is the furthest thing from dynamic, he has a great chin, but he does nothing special, he doesn't have Margarito's output or power, Cotto's body work or combinations, Berto's speed, Mayweather's talent and skill, Cintron's power, Williams size or speed. I don't look forward to watching him that much, I would love to see Berto fight Mosley or Judah or Cotto next. I think he is ready for it, and if he isn't then he will never be. Rewatching the Forbes fight and this fight, I think he could pull off Margarito if he stays within the confines of purely boxing and not trying to go into a shoot out, but he doesn't deserve that fight yet.
I would like Berto-Collazo to happen again, but I don't think the outcome would change for Collazo, in fact I think Berto would win by an even larger margin in another tough fight(like Mayweather-Castillo 2).

Re: Andre Berto, Luis Collazo, Future Match Ups.
From what I gather, and I haven't had a chance to watch the fight yet, the fight was very close, with Berto winning a decision that could have gone either way - maybe Collazo didn't quite do enough to take the strap from the champion?
Is Berto ready for the elite of the division?
Collazo v. Quintana/Judah?

Re: Andre Berto, Luis Collazo, Future Match Ups.
I think Berto should fight Clottey next and then if Cotto and Marg have a rematch the winner of each fight should fight each other and lead to a undisputed title fight. I think Cotto has the tools to beat Marg it's whether he's has the mindset and as for Berto, I think he takes close-ish decision over Clottey.
I've just realised it sounds like I am totally dismissing the chance of Mosley winning at weekend but even if he does Cotto should beat him again but I doubt he does.

I would like to see the reverse. Berto vs Quintana and have the slickster Collazo against Clottey.

Re: Andre Berto, Luis Collazo, Future Match Ups.
In hindsight, maybe I was a bit harsh on young Berto this weekend. Not looking to slag on the man.He is vibrant, exciting and has that speed & TV friendly dynamic that will/has put him into the spotlight and legitimate contention. What sticks out to me is the belief that we may be witnessing yet another path to "possible long time player" being rushed to market before he is ready for the major players and the front page.
Learn to walk before you run or something?
Berto was put into a huge breakout showcase fight with a naturally smaller Stevie Forbes in which Bertos natural talents were glaring, hand speed, combination punching from a much 'fresher' Man.How things were different in with Collazo, who was able to apply pressure and move Berto, imposing his own strengths. And collazo is not the biggest Welter out their, not by far and no,he is also not a Forbes.Berto was playing the role of slugger quite a bit coming in at near 160,his legs looked stiff, and he squares up directly in front of his opponent. He almost appears 'top heavy'...leaning over /into a guy with head held up.
I think his road to long term success MUST be paved with combination boxing, emphasizing his reflex speed, crisp jabs and just flat out boxing 101.Forget that showy one-two punch and playing the physical rough stuff.I do not think he will do well with that against a Margarito,Williams (?),Mosley or a Clottey.Cotto is a question mark after a devastating loss vs. Tony.Imo....If he does not re-tool and make major adjustments,I see Clottey as too much. His defense is way to tight,Chin is solid, and Clottey is a straight puncher down the middle...very solidly built.
The question now that On the rise Berto has fought at a high level and obtained main event status for HBO,who has not been hesitant to throw young stars into the meat grinder in the past....Vargas comes to mind among others....can he seemingly go back wards fighting lesser guys??Like it or not/Ready or not...he is amongst the big timers now and will be a player either way.I believe he should buckle up as he will have to adjust things at this stage when I believe they would have been best addressed a number of fights ago.Berto is a gifted talent...the future is all in front of him,his ability is obvious.I think a rematch with Collazo would be a smart move.....I think he has the ability to most likely win pretty wide knowing what he knows now...just implement it and BOX!

Re: Andre Berto, Luis Collazo, Future Match Ups.
Collazo vs Cotto maybe??
I still kinda wanna see Berto vs Mosley, or even Quintana or Cintron before facing Margarito or Cotto.

Re: Andre Berto, Luis Collazo, Future Match Ups.
I'm amoung those who think Collazo got robbed.

Re: Andre Berto, Luis Collazo, Future Match Ups.
I'd like to see Berto give Collazo an immediate rematch! It was a good fight, it would keep Berto away from the top 5 for awhile longer as well as gaining a lot of respect (& further experience) in the eyes of the many that thought he lost.
Failing that I think both Berto & Collazo should look towards Judah, Quintana or Cintron.
Personally I think Clottey is still a step above Berto at this stage... but would be interested in seeing the fight!

Re: Andre Berto, Luis Collazo, Future Match Ups.
Clottey v Collazo
Berto v Mosley (after he loses to Marg)

Collazo vs Cotto
Berto vs Mosley/Clottey

Re: Andre Berto, Luis Collazo, Future Match Ups.
Yes.
Berto Passed the "Metal" test. Held his own and won the last round. I believe this fight is the kind of of that will make him an even better fighter and possibly champion. However... HE LOST ON POINTS as far as I was concerned. Collazo got robbed. Straight up robbed!
I grew up with his trainer (Nirmol Lorick) and actually them both last night at the Huntington Hilton on Long Island in NewYork. Luis is a very gracious young man and deserves a shot to make some of the nice money in the division.
