[ The Best Goalkeeper In The World ]
Who is CURRENTLY the best goalkeeper in the world?
I have to say I respect Cech, I got mad love for Van Der, I def. got respect for Iker and Valdes. Buffons def. showed he can be the best.
But currently for me as of sometime late 2007, Mexican superstar goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has been showing week in and week out that he can cover his frame like no other.
He's young and has been goalkeeping for several yrs. now and I think he is the best currently.
I have zero doubts that any top goalkeeper makes or has made as many brilliant saves as he has in the past year or so. He makes top saves every week.
Theres a particular save he had late last year which YOU HAVE TO SEE!!

Here's a top highlight video of him. Thoughts on him?

The best ever!!I would say our Peter Shilton"Legend!";D
The best ever soo far in the Premiership!Peter Schmeichel,he was just awesome;)
Todays best,i would say,ermm,Shane Given:cool:
Re: [ The Best Goalkeeper In The World ]
Thats not a bad call, in fact forget his name the American at Villa takes some beating. Martin O,neil knows a good Goalkeeper, great presence at the back and a good shot stopper. Villa dont leak Goals anymore.
Re: [ The Best Goalkeeper In The World ]
Hi, great clips!
Embarrassed to say that I had never heard of Ochoa before, but those were some quality saves!
My money is still on Buffon or Cech though :)
Re: [ The Best Goalkeeper In The World ]
Iker Casillas from real madid he is class!
Re: [ The Best Goalkeeper In The World ]
Buffon currently the best. Schmeicel the best ever IMO. Guy was not human.
But FUCKS ME! that save is awesome mick..holy shit

Ochoa is a hell of a good young keeper, and maybe in about 5 or 6 years he MIGHT be the best, but right now it has to be between Iker Casillas & Gigi Buffon. Although Casillas has had the better last year, it's got to be Buffon for me, his performances at club & international level (particularly the last World Cup) just edge him forward. I find it hard to think of him making mistakes.
On Ochoa, yes Mick those saves are very good, but you'll find Heurelho Gomes with similar saves & of a similar number whilst at PSV, and obviously those who have only seen him in the Premiership would find that ridiculous. Ochoa may be the best young keeper in the world right now, although Ustari is pretty special too.
The greatest of all time would be between one of Lev Yashin, Dino Zoff & Gordon Banks for me. Buffon & Casillas may join that list after their careers are over though.

I'd side with Iker... Of course I'm being biased. ;D

Right on Jaz, I def. agree that Ochoas one of the brightest goalkeepers out there right now. What worries me is that America will not sell him to a Euro club. Which is where he should be playing IMO...
But who knows maybe it's meant for it to be this way for a reason.

All time is pretty damn! hard question... I wouldn't even know where to start.
Schmeicel, Chilavert and Khan... How do you even start that one.
Then you've got Zenga, Zubizarreta and Tafarel.
??? I'm cluless as where to start. ???
Re: [ The Best Goalkeeper In The World ]
Start by removing Khan Chilevert Tafarel and Zubizaretta from your list ;D
When I was a young budding goalkeeper I thought Rinat Dasaev was the nuts. If you were going to build a keeper he'd look something like Dasaev, minus the daft tache.
If Neville Southall hadnt come to the game so late, had been a little bit taller and a few pounds lighter we wouldnt need to debate this. Amzing shot stopper.
Re: [ The Best Goalkeeper In The World ]
Love this and even though he fractured the fellas leg, broke 6 teeth, injured his spine, broke some ribs and knocked him unconcious for several minutes...the German keeper Shumaker never even got booked;D

Pfaff for Belgium in the 80's was quality;)
I still put david James up there with any keeper in the world at present and he proved it on Sunday against us Yids:cool:
Re: [ The Best Goalkeeper In The World ]
Billy the Fish was the best ever but for entertainment Rene Huigita was hard to top, not only did he have the infamous scorpian kick but he could score too

The second video should come with a warning as the commentator clearly has a massive orgasm from watching the goal :-\
Re: [ The Best Goalkeeper In The World ]
You just know that the big gaff from James is coming at any moment. With the trually top quality keepers its a rare thing, with James its par for the course.
