Collazo/Berto

I'm sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here but I finally got a chance to watch the Berto vs Collazo match. Being that my volleyball season is in full swing, I haven't been able to go on the forums as often as I would like and I'm missing fights whenever they're on.

I had Berto the winner 114-113. Collazo taking the 7th and the 8th round off really killed the chances for him to win that fight. Berto dug deep in the 11th and 12th rounds and that was the difference. The fight, to me, was up for grabs at that point. There were a good amount of swing rounds so if either was announced the winner, it would've been just.

How that one judge had the fight 116-111 is out of their mind!! The HBO crew made fun of that scorecard when Lederman had a one round difference at 115-112. Finally, how in the world did Lederman give Collazo the 7th round?!?! That was the most lopsided round in the fight!!

I def. agree that the 116-111 card was stupid...

Ledermans been loosing it for sometime now.
Maybe it's time HBO starts looking for another unofficial scorecard. ;D

That's pretty much exactly how I saw it. I can't fault anyone for scoring it 114-113 to Collazo though.

Sorry for the lateness of this reply, but I just finished watching the fight (downloaded it and then forgot I had!).

That's what I thought when Lederman gave Luis the 7th - he must have been checking out the round card girls for that round, that was just plain stupidity. Berto hurt Luis to the body and head in that round and Luis did NOTHING.

That said, I scored the fight 114-113 to Collazo. Mind you, that point deduction was RIDICULOUS so, 114-113 to Berto is perfectly legitimate IMO.

Controversy aside, WHAT A FIGHT. Both guys really gave it everything they had. If there is a rematch (and if I'm Berto I don't want to go anywhere Collazo again in a hurry if I don't have to) Andre really needs to work the body for the whole fight - it was when he started landing those shots that Luis slowed down. If I'm Luis in the rematch - well, more fucking sit-ups during training and draft in a big body punching sparring partner. ;D

only watched it once and i scored it 114-113 for collazo and was very annoyed at the unanimous decision :mad:

I just watched the fight last night and I thought Berto won it. Collazo threw alot of punches but most were pitty pat punches (like Calzaghes) just to rack up some rounds. But Berto landed the more effective and at a higher percentage and hurt Collazo badly with body shots. Great fight though.

....I just got around to watching this fight. Andre Berto doesn't impress me...sure he has fast hands but good lord he got hurt by Luis Collazo!!!!

If I'm the matchmaker for Mosley or Cotto I am looking really hard at Berto, he's ready for an ass whuppin! Berto has fast hands but Cotto is great with timing, he works the body, and if Berto takes a Cotto left hook to the head he's done for. Shane Mosley would just beat Andre to a bloody pulp.

Berto is technically flawed and he's a small guy too


Oh and I thought Collazo won that fight and I agree with Lederman's scoring 115-112

Still haven't seen this one my self which is sickening as I really do like the look of Berto, but from what I've heard it sounds like he was in one hell of a fight with Collazo. That said I've only ever seen Mosley beat him comfortably.

Well then the first half of the fight would make you sicker...Berto had the natural speed and power advantages and he didn't use them to support his efforts.

He went straight in and out and got caught a number of times when he shouldn't have, and he fought too square, he gave up too much space for him to be hit....there's no way he can defend effectively when he stands square. He may need a new trainer or training regimine

Same here, it was a really good fight, both guys made a really good account of themselves.

Worth a rematch...Berto gained some respect for me....I would favor him vs Judah.......(Slightly...if he can make it to the 6th round)) hehe....

When I watched this fight for the first time I though Berto won it but I watched it again today and I’m not so sure anymore; I saw a lot of clean punches landed by Collazo which seemed to me the “pitty pat” type of punches when I saw it for the first time, but i think I was wrong because his lack of power.
Me to I think Berto’s not ready yet for Cotto, Mosley, Clotey or even Cintron but maybe I’m wrong, maybe Collazo is better than I think, or just a bad style for him.

Berto is better than I thought....
