Yeah, I chat with Steve a little bit and he has told me how hes constantly trying to get back in touch with Mike, hes always sending him stuff in the post and calling or leaving messages on his numerous phones but he gets no replys.
It sounds like Steve is hacked off in that piece and to be honest I think he is, more that Mike wont just man up and rid his life of all the farcial shit and just work at being a decent bloke again.
Its a shame he never hooked back up with his old friends and team before Torres died, deep down that will hurt Mike, I think all his problems now are related to the way he treated that original team and his stubborness to not admit he was wrong.
Steve still works with Kevin Rooney who has some of his own problems but both would gladly take Mike back int o their lives and not for any money either, they all spent alot of time together and were very close, then Mike listens to King and basicly just shits all over them.
King got Mike to ask Jacobs if his friend could use his image on some merchandise and Jim was hesitant to do so, Mike kept on so he relented then King says that Jacobs has renaged on his part of the contract and gets Mike for himself:rolleyes:
Steve told me Mike went looking for him and Kevin in 2000, neither were around but Steve found out and met up with Mike, they talked for a couple of hours and Steve put to him a plan to try to get back to the top of boxing which included alot of publicity stuff, taking a few bouts around the world and having Keving drilling him in the D'amato system again.
Mike was very interested and agreed but as soon as he walked out the door, the scum that need Mike as their gravy train talked him out of it, otherwise hed be back with good trainers, managers and advisors and wouldnt be doing the shit they had him doing.
Just think though, if he had gone through with it, the Lewis fight might have gone a whole lot better for him.
Mike is embarrassed at what he has let himself become and does still have respect for all the old team, you can see his eyes well up whenever he talks about them, I also talk to someone who is close with Mike now and they say he wont ever talk about Cus and the old crew because he gets too upset.
Its never too late for him to go back to New York and make amends, they made him one of the most devastating and skilled fighters ever, they gave him unbelievable advertising contracts, he was the most famous and loved sportsman in the world with them and they never did wrong by him but he just dumps them to make a joke out of his life and career.
He could still put it all back together, not for fighting but he would still make good money from his name, at the moment hes doing nothing and has nothing, compared to what he did have.

How do you expect Mike to be a "decent bloke" when he has NEVER been a good guy his whole life, at least not for prolonged periods of time. I'm not dissing Mike or anything but it's a bit of a stretch to expect the guy to just change when he doesn't know how to be nice or a regular guy and part of that is how he is and part of that is how people treat him.
....when you're beating up old ladies and robbing them at 13 years old and then you're just thrown right into boxing and basically forced to do that or go to prison then any chance for a "normal" life has probably passed you by

Mikes life so well documented from when Cus took charge of him to when King got in his head, eevn people that arent followers of boxing know about it but Cus had Mike live in his house with his other fighters and his rule was, you lived by his rules or your out, Mike knew how to be polite an d a gentleman and ask anyone who has met him in day to day life and they would agree.
Youll get people trying to make a name for themselves like Teddy Atlas saying he put a gun to Mikes head for trying it on with his niece, Mike was 14 at the time:D
What 14 year old boys arent trying it on with girls?
The other story that makes me laugh is Holyfields about how he made Mike back down over a game of pool in the olypic tryouts, Mike is 5 years younger than Holyfield so was 17 to Holyfields 22;D
Mike was living such a sheltered life with his original team, in that they took care of and guided every aspect of his life and career that when he went with King who was just saying "yes Mike" that Mike acted like a fool with no commupance bar the law.

That artical is retarded, how can he say that stuff about jacobs and clayton. when he was with them he had defence and combinations, he was crushing opponents and had a good image. Then he went with don king and robin and he was in the news every week (suicide attempt, beating, rape, etc...). He just stoped doing everything that made him so dominant. I still think that if cus didnt die that mike would have been at least in the top 5 greatest heavyweights ever and he might have even been so if he stuck with jacobs.

I am sorry X but it is true. I have tried to keep it away from you all these years but the truth had to come out that Tyson told a lie.
