Does Margarito's loss increases or decreases his chances for a fight with Pacquiao?
Before his fight with Mosley, Margarito mentioned a fight with Pacquiao might be possible in the near future.
With his one sided beatdown at the hands of Mosley, does the chances of Margarito fighting Pacquiao in the future increases or decreases?
Why increases?
- Margarito is perceived as an indestructible force at welter and will be too much for Pacquiao. With this loss, Pacquiao now have some chances...
- After dealing with 2 successive brutal wars in Cotto and Mosley, Margarito can look for a smaller opponent in his next fight. Pacquiao fits that criteria.
Why decreases?
- Some boxing writers starting to write off Margarito
"After suffering through nine rounds of brutal punishment at the gloved but deadly hands of Shane Mosley at Staples Center, Margarito hobbled from the ring without his WBC welterweight championship belt, with little chance at a potential $11-million December date with Manny Pacquiao and with no clue where it all went."
- The winner, Mosley also wants a Pacquiao fight
"Mosley said that if Margarito wants a rematch he’s absolutely willing or any other big fight. Maybe a Manny Pacquiao should he beat Ricky Hatton in May."
Anymore thoughts? Please vote in the poll too. ;)

PAC has no business getting inside the ring with Tony to begin with. PAC has nothing to lose in this one, but if PAC pulls off a win Margarito should be extremely shameful and go on spontaneous combustion.

I voted for "decreases". Also I think the "cheating" issue decreases Margo's chances to have a fight at the elite level against elite boxers like Pacquiao and others...

I dont see the fight happening. Margarito will most likely take a long holiday, and if he wants to get back to the top will probably need to get there via Cotto. Him and Pac have no reason to be fighting now.

Increases cuz Pac fights fighters in decline
If Mosley lost he would have had a good chance but seemings as he won, now he has no chance.

Decreases. I see Mosley going for the man who battered his boss!

Should this even be made into a thread ? its an obvious/silly question, of course it decreases his chances. If Manny Pacquiao and his team wern't willing to fight Antonio Margarito when he had a name.
What chance has Antonio Margarito got now when he just got destroyed, and with all the controversy surronding him at the moment. Which if found true for 100 percent will ruin his rep for good.

I think this thread deserves the "Duhhh!" award.
Re: Does Margarito's loss increases or decreases his chances for a fight with Pacquia
Doesn't change anything, because Pacquiao was never going to fight Margarito to begin with, no matter what Margarito said.
Re: Does Margarito's loss increases or decreases his chances for a fight with Pacquia
I don't see one reason why Pacman should fight Margarito at this moment. He will not get the money he will win fighting Mosley or Floyd (if he returns), and there is a lot of risk for him fighting a big welter like Margarito. Pacman had a great motivation ($$$) to fight De La Hoya that is not present with Margarito today. If Pacman will accept the risk of fighting welter weights he has to make the fights that will give him money, and those are the big names at the top of the division. Now it is all Shane.
If Margarito returns and become the # 1 welter one more time, then I guess Pacman may think about taking this risk, but not now.

Exactly! Manny Pacquiao Dropped Seven Grand on Shane Mosley - Boxing News
Re: Does Margarito's loss increases or decreases his chances for a fight with Pacquia
Are you serious?? The only Pacquiao who might get in the ring with Margarito now is Bobby. Margarito's selling power disappeared when he got knocked down & struggled to get up
Re: Does Margarito's loss increases or decreases his chances for a fight with Pacquia
I think Manny got a little crazy talking about fighting Tony. He doesn't have the physical size to do what Shane did and I don't think he could allude Tony for 12 full rounds, even with all his speed. With all that said, this fight definitely isn't haappening now. I kinda feel bad for Tony because he was on top of the world headlining the biggest HBO World Championship Boxing fight since Hopkins-JoeCal or Pavlik-JT I and he blew it. Quite honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he's not in another significant fight anymore because he's still dangerous as hell for 90% of fighters but now his drawing power has taken a major hit. Only maybe the Cotto rematch, but win or lose that fight and I don't really see him being in any other significant fight.
Re: Does Margarito's loss increases or decreases his chances for a fight with Pacquia
Now that Margarito is possibly ruined. He will be lucky to get the rematch with Cotto.
But I didnt think Tony was gonna fight Pacman anyway.
