Hatton. It's pretty simple. Pacqiaou is Hatton's second bona fide p4p ranked fight who is at his his peak. Weight is not an issue for Pacqioau and after the fight, if Hatton wins, nobody can say he had moved too high after his win over Oscar.
Manny on the other hand has had so many world class fights that even if he beats Hatton, it will not add so much to his reputation. In saying that, if it is a one sided stoppage, it wouldn't detract from his record lol.
Hatton, easily. Pac has a bevy of world class names on his resume. Hatton's entire legacy rests on beating Kostya, who some will argue was past it. A win over a still prime Pacman solidifies his legacy. A loss for Pac will not do much damage given thew quality of the rest of his resume.
I think a win for Pac is just as significant as a Hatton victory.
Hatton is the undisputed genuine king at 140. He will have topped the division for nearly four years by time they fight. He's never really come close to losing at the weight. He has one loss to a modern day GREAT in a higher weightclass.
Hatton is the betting underdog. ;)

I think it's a good amount of each of their respective legacies.
Hatton winning adds a victory over the P4P champ and sure shot Hall of Famer.
Pacquiao winning gets him another title in another weight class and defeating a fighter who has never lost at that weight.
Well a win for Hatton definitely puts him in the Driving Seat of his career regardless of who his future opponents might be.... With Pacquiao I’m not so sure... That says more for the magnitude of a Hatton win more than anything.
However, when we talk about legacy, I get the feeling there’s an air of Hype behind Pacquiao fighting up in the nose-bleeds, I mean he pummelled the hittable and mediocre Diaz then went on to beat Dela Hoya in such convincing fashion that we all had no option but believe Pacquiao belonged in the higher weight classes.
If he loses to Hatton, the accolade received for beating Diaz and Dela Hoya looks tainted and disappears as does his P4P No.1 ranking. All that will be left is a void where a huge Arum fuelled Hype Machine once roamed.

For Pacquaio this will be viewed as a smaller guy rising through the weights and beating two highly respected fighters in a row. Legendary stuff.
A Loss to Hatton is seen as a loss to a bigger Champion, a gallant effort.
For hatton a win sees him solidified as a great Light Welter.
A loss would be truely devastating to his legacy.
At first glance it seems like it would suite Hatton more, but his legacy can never match Pacquiao's he's the bigger man, he's style is terrible for Manny IMO, I think this type of pressure leaves no room for Pacquiao to really throw punches hard, but I still think its a toss up because Manny is Manny.
The reason why I now think its a bigger fight for Manny is that if he wins, he is the ring champ at another weight class, if he beats Hatton at his natural weightclass more definitively than Mayweather did than people can make deductions on their own. IMO Mayweather's greatest asset is that his style works against any style. If Manny style has that same adaptability than I can't help but feel he is the better fighter because he closes the show, he has a great resume, and he is becoming a guy who can do it all.
I disagree. A win for Pac over Hatton would be just as big because Hatton is a bigger man, he is a Ring Magazine #10 p4p fighter, he is the best in the world at his weight, he has never been beat at his weight, and his style on its face, won't be easy for Pacquiao. Moreover, it will be his first "big" fight over a non-Mexican fighter. ;)Quote:

The fight is big for Hatton because Manny is p4p #1 and that is very significant. Also, Hatton's cd isn't filled with the names of elite fighters, a win over Pacquiao would be his biggest accomplishment. However, Manny has fought most of his career below 130 whereas Hatton generally fights at 140.
Probably great for each man's legacy.
A loss probably hurts Hatton more because Manny is smaller and its Hatton's second loss against p4p #1 fighters. Losing for Manny just means, Hatton was too big. Right?
I think it would do more for Pac to be honest because if he wins he has beaten another bigger opponent where as if Hatton wins he beat a lot smaller man who was overhyped because he beat an over the hill ODLH.
I wouldn't say Pac is the underdog though I don't think there really is one going into this fight.
