What you doing over there mate? Holiday? Hope your having a good time bro.
Yeah it's a pisser the fights in Vegas I had my heart set on watching this at Wembley. I know I certainly don't have a spare couple of grand to go see it and I imagine (with the shit economy) plenty of others wont.
Re: Just seen fight confirmed defo in Vegas . Arse !
Basically it is too a big a fight to have in the UK which is a damn shame. We get the crap fights.
Re: Just seen fight confirmed defo in Vegas . Arse !
too big for 90,000 fans at wembley ?? I won't harp on but basically - there is no american involved here so why not ??
Kel, am on holiday here. Home this eekend. Will post pics up of my 'Rocky Balboa' tour of Philadelphia when back ;)
Re: Just seen fight confirmed defo in Vegas . Arse !
Vegas is almost always willing to put up the most money. The reason being is that they are not concerned with making a profit on the fight itself. They bank on all of those boxing fans spending money in their casinos.
Re: Just seen fight confirmed defo in Vegas . Arse !
Why not have it in the Philipines? :p The mini Thrilla in Manilla. Pac hasn't fought there since Larios.

The pressure is on Hatton to win this time cuz if he makes everyone travel over there again and he gets beat again then it may be his last chance. People wont keep flying over . (atleast i think they wont . I know they are loyal but that would be mad.
I would be dispaointed if he cant beat Pac . The floyd loss is excusable but he is up against a less formidable opponent this time who has been knocked out before and it is at his own weight this time.

Don't you think it depends on the fight itself? Let us say Hatton's loss is by a UD/MD/SD or if the fight is a classic, with a loss like that Hatton might even gain fans just like what happened in Marquez's case.

Well I cant dispute the Hatton fanbase cuz it is the best in the world but not that many went to see him fight Paulie and if he lost again then what? Is he gonna get another shot at another p4p fighter down the road when everyone travels again ? Im not so sure in this current financial climate that he will get as many going over . Just a thought

A Pacquiao fight in the Philippines is anything but mini. A Philippine promoter would have to team up with Top Rank/??? GPP for that to happen. The money would have to come from sponsors and while there is people power in the Philippines there isn't any money power because the peso is too weak against the pound, euro and dollar. It's just too much money. Even by getting the Department of Trade and Tourism involved they would be hard to coming up with the $50 Million justification. That translates into a 2.5 billion peso fight. Considering the huge sex trade business as part of the economy the Philippines would do, I guessing it would generate a little more than half the purse it could be a no brainer but heads of state can't use that as part of a justification to host the fight. They have to come up with legitimate money making exploits. If we are ever see Pacquiao fight in the Philippines, I think he would have to retire first and then come back with no promoter ties.

There wasnt many at the Paulie fight at all they closed a section of the arena off it was still good atmosphere tho.If Hatton loses he wont get a shot at the p4p king again unless its a close points lose.
Re: Just seen fight confirmed defo in Vegas . Arse !
It is a shame, because the fight would no doubt sell out a stadium, and if the fight were at a reasonable UK time, it would no doubt generate seriously HUGE UK PPV figures too. Then you factor in the US boxing fans who would likely make the effort of tuning in and add in the people watching on terrestrial tv the world over and you still have a massive event.
Doesnt neccessarily need to be in the states to do all that, and it would certainly mean more to the UK fans. But there you go. Boxing has its fingers in certain troughs.
