Will Cintron carry his power upto light middle?
Just gone onto fightnews and noticed that Kermit Cintron is fighting Sergio Martinez at the weekend, a man who has only lost one fight and that was to Antonio Margarito 9 years ago.
Another thing I noticed is that the fight is at Junior middleweight which is a weight up from Cintrons usual battleground so I got thinking, will the man considered by many to be p4p the hardest puncher in the world carry that freakish power and be able to do what Marg did all them years ago and stop Martinez?
Re: Will Cintron carry his power upto light middle?
A loss nine years ago isn't something you can take anything from really...I mean martinez may have been a completely different fighter back then, definitely was green behind the ears . Martinez however better keep his hands up in this fight though because else he might get sparked because I do think cintron is going to be a big puncher even at 154.

yeah....i think will be better at 154..he was too big for 147 possibly constantly over trained.
Re: Will Cintron carry his power upto light middle?
No question in my mind he will retain his power at 154-- I suspect he may carry it even better than 147. To me, the key for Kerm will be his ability to cut off the ring sufficently to connect. If he does that, I think he comes up on top Saturday night. I'm rooting for him.

He needs to carry some boxing also, use that crazy frame/reach..... stop relying on bombing them out.Hes one where his natural gifts are evident big time but has trouble upstairs??

Re: Will Cintron carry his power upto light middle?
cintron is one of my favorite fighters i see say he carry his power and more
Re: Will Cintron carry his power upto light middle?
Yeah Cintron is one of my favorite fighters,I got love for Kermit, the guy has the tools to put some Jr. Middleweights out of buisiness,Frankly I have never seen him in A bad fight.
People get the wrong impression of Kermit due to his losses to Margarito, but noone can question his heart and determination.rematching Margarito took some serious balls after getting beat down like he did the first fight. We will find out soon if thoses loses to Margarito should be in question?

Absolutely couldn't have said it any better TeleTuff. I just don't understand some of the venom in the boxing wired world directed at Kerm, who in my mind is one of the most fan friendly, and skill wise underappreciated, of fighters. He (and his team) just wasn't ready for the first Margs fight (too much too soon for a guy who started boxing at 18-- and I think this remains the root of the "fragile mentality" perception, yet I do think this is overstated (Kerm had plenty of opportunity to crack in some of his other non-Margarito battles yet had the wherewithal to pull through), and his "visionquest" to redeem himself and take the second Margs fight makes me respect him even more even though he lost (I'm not even going to venture into the hands controversy until we know more about what happened against Mosely). Kerm's 29 but really, given his late start, is still a "developing" fighter skill wise-- and its this boxing skill development (now under Ronnie Shields) that determines how much better he will get. If he stops developing, I think his career plateaus-- but he sure doesn't sound like a guy who will let that happen. I give him plenty of props and am rooting for him this Saturday to become a factor to be reckoned with at both 147 AND 154 from here on out.
Still don't know much about the Agrentine (if Buema is still his best win-- I have my doubts that he can handle Kerm's power if Kerm can catch up to him).
Re: Will Cintron carry his power upto light middle?
Well Marg took some big bombs off Kermit probably bigger shots than he did off Shane and stood up to them. So I wonder just how much long term damage them shots did looking back now.
Re: Will Cintron carry his power upto light middle?
I think the cool back story to this fight is that both fighters only defeats have come by KO at the hands of Margarito! Who gets the upperhand? I'm slightly leaning towards Martinez to be a little bit more polished!
Re: Will Cintron carry his power upto light middle?
Yes, but he will also be carrying his skills up to light middleweight and unless he has improed a lot of the amateur mistakes that he tends to make, hes gonna have his hands full with these guys. Light middle is a division with a lot of tough, strong fighters right now. Martinez is a very good fighter and his skills should get him the win. Cintron is tough so it should be a good fight though.
