Boxing and MMA on the same card. Could this take off?
Just found this and it got me wondering. Could cards with both boxing matches and MMA fights take off? It's already got Vargas interested anyway as he's into promoting it! Also looks like he's been doing some eating ;D

I think this will work. Boxing and MMA are not enemies as the portrayal goes and both can exist simultaneously. Heck, most fight fans like both. I'm a fanatic for both so I'm in.

Anything that encourages, promotes and affords boxing/boxers a spotlight,I can favor in a big way.Honestly, not a fan of MMA and have only watched it when the networks were totally void of live boxing cards, and that was with people over, needing 'Live' weekend action lol.Showtime is all over this idea and planning to air many Co-mingled cards.looks like we're along for the ride.I'll watch for the Boxing.
From a selfish and personal perspective.....I could do without the mix & mash, they should spend there resources giving us (Me ;D) additional bouts and better quality shows.MMA has found a huge nitch and to deny that is to refuse reality but.....Im sure MMA could do just fine on its own?

I am primarily a boxing fan although I don't mind watching the odd MMA card. But if boxing could in any way benefit from being on a card that also has MMA then I'm all for it!
I see it like this. Boxing has been around for literally hundreds of years and therefore has totally polished athletes whereas MMA is still in the juvenile stages therefore you get the rather sloppy looking fights, but as it matures I think it will start to look more rounded and complete and then it will look like it belongs on the same card as boxing.
I think the co card is something that GBP are also interested in as I keep hearing about ODLH making noise about his own MMA.
Re: Boxing and MMA on the same card. Could this take off?
they already do abroad.
In Amsterdam I saw, boxing, womens boxing, K-1, MT and MMA bouts all on the same night. The thing is if they didn't like boxing they went to the bar and came back for the fights they wanted to see (exactly the same as many uk boxing nights, most people only seem to want to watch their mate or the headline fight then sod off. There aren't that many who sit through the whole card).

Uhh maybe.. a big MMA fan here and to be honest., I really want to see these MMA fighters improve their boxing skills. they're mediocre at their best boxing wise.;D
Re: Boxing and MMA on the same card. Could this take off?
This is a neat idea.
But I say keep them seperate. Boxing is not in such dire straits that it needs to piggy back off of MMA events.
Each sport can stand on their own.

.....no and i don't want to see soccer during halftime of football games either in case they were wondering, ohh and maybe they can come up with dancing and stripping with the stars next, both dancing right ???
