Larry 'Warmachine' Olubamiwo vs Mihai Iftode - Video
Hey guys,
Firstly, sorry about the message in the middle of this video. Annoying, i know, but shouldn't effect your viewing much.
Larry has been bugged by everyone (myself included!) who couldn't make it to this fight for a video so he finally gave me the DVD to put up on YouTube.
I had to download some software to convert it and, well, this happened! I have to pay apparently to remove it!
Anyway. This guy Mihai doesn't have a great win record but he's been in there with 2 current Cruiserweight world champions and floored one of them. Firat Arslan and Thomas Adamek (floored in the 1st). Both couldn't stop him either.
I read a few articles during this whole Fury vs Olubamiwo malarky and most of the articles discredit Larry's opposition and make no mention of Fury's (purely because of his 2nd opponents win and KO ratio against fighters 0-1 and 1-0. Let's not even talk about his first who wasn't even a heavyweight on the night!).
Larry has faced more durable opponents and his first 2 opponents were last minute choices who hadn't been knocked out in years before meeting Larry.
Anyway, my analysis is - I think he's improved vastly since his first fight - Just needs to keep that chin down and 1 glove up by his face when he throws those shots. I know Larry never rests on his laurels so I imagine these to be fixed soon.
So, here goes..enjoy

I know Larry very well, a great guy and I wish Him the best. He will do well a great attitude.

No doubt Larry looked good in that fight, big and strong, but did seem to be blowing a bit as I recall, but packs a hell of a punch.
Interviewed really well after the fight however, and came across as a real gent, and going pro later will obviously help prevent any success going to his head, and make him more stoic about the hype.

Whilst Larry may be a nice guy, I don't really like watching him fight...he just seems too slow and lumbering to me, I think there can be such a thing as too much muscle sometimes. Hopefully he does well and improves his game but, I think when he gets the more serious fights he might just get picked off by faster and fitter opponents.

British heavyweights....fast and fit?!?!?! Well, he is an up and comer, so by the time he gets to a decent level we might have some heavies like that by then. And a big punch will always throw something in the mix at most levels.

That's fair enough. He does have things to work on which he admitted to. He will be fitter though come the 6, 8, 10 and 12 rounders.
And hey, he's a heavyweight in shape..I think we're too used to fat British heavies ;D
I agree with your analysis about the speedier guys but by that time hopefully Larry will be more relaxed and faster himself as well as having improved timing to deal with the speedier guys.
It's early days...hard to tell how good any of the new crop of British heavyweights will be when they step up to a bigger challenge.
I just hope they all do well so that we can see some exciting domestic rivalries like the Benn-Eubank-Watson era.

How old is this guy? He looks bloody massive in that video! He obviously likes the gym! :) Not heard much about him to be honest, but any new heavies on the scene can only be a good thing.
