I punched the neighbors door number off!
For the past two nights my Mrs has had to go around to the new neighbors to complain about the noise they have been making. They have answered but been less than compliant each time. Each night the noise has continued well after midnight. Well tonight, the Mrs went out again and knocked on the door and they didn't answer and instead turned the lights off. She was angered by that, so asked for me to get involved. I went out and punched their door several times, whilst shouting Korean insults. I reverted to English and rained a wonderful punch just below the door number, which fell off.
I stood for a moment surprised that I had actually caused damage. After a brief moment, I got a big idea. I went back into my home and found some tape and went back to their door and taped their number back on upside down.
The good news is that they have completely shut up, Koreans generally get shocked to hear the crazy foreigner using the F word violently. But I am worried they will put my number upside down tomorrow. If they do, there will be bloody murder, mark my words!!!:mad:
Any other stupid neighbor stories out there?
Re: I punched the neighbors door number off!
If all you have to worry about is them moving your number it's not so bad.
I knew a guy that got stabbed in the belly for asking noisy neighbours to stop blasting their music. :-\
A few years back.. I badly busted the heel of my foot jumping on the floor after losing it big time at this unbelievably noisy chinese gang living below me. I also smashed two bottles of becks outside their door - then stood there shitting myself waiting to be macheteed to bits ;D ... luckily I never heard from them again

I do get more bolshy here than I would back home and I worry sometimes that I might get a reaction that I can't deal with. Alright so far though.
The last neighbors I got scary with actually thought I might be carrying a gun. Of course, I'm not American and there are no guns here! I hope these neighbors have the same warped picture too. Probably not though.
And if they even so much as touch my door, I'll dice 'em!!:p
Re: I punched the neighbors door number off!
I feel for you mate. Inconsiderate neighbours :beat:
I'd play up the gun angle ;D
(I'd like to make it clear the Chinese people that drove me mad were like 10 handed 20 somethings. Not a couple of pensioners :))

I wish I had a gun, but like I said on that other thread. I wouldn't be too responsible with it! ;D
They are chicken shit really, I just don't want them touching my door. But if they do, then I will know it's them and I will retaliate. I'm sure they will be more sensible than that.
Let's wait and see.... :-\
Re: I punched the neighbors door number off!
haha well played Miles!
I do think Korea must be like living in Lilliput for a six foot English male. You can afford to throw your weight around knowing they have to respect you becuase they are all barely 5ft tall and don't even have enough testosterone to grow facial hair let alone any muscle.
I say continue to play the tough guy, they are probably all a bunch of wimps over there, but for your own safety if/when you ever move back to the UK just remember its not like that over here. Nowadays you can shout at a 14 yr old hoody and tell him to pick the coke can up that he threw on the ground and a group of his mates will stab you to death.
Re: I punched the neighbors door number off!
As a youngster i had a horrible neighbor who used to shout and ball at me and my brother and friends as we were playing around outside my house.I think he just liked the attention! He was on our case all the time.So one night during the summer when i was about 8-9 year old i jumped over into his back garden.I had a huge fence to climb over first but i was soo determined i got over pretty swiftly. As i got over the fence and into his garden i headed over to his lovely madeshift pond and pissed into it.He really loved his priced fishes.I dont know how many fishes died but i remember him taking out some died fish a day or two afterward!!:-XHe was a akward git.Mind you i was a little bastard when i was kid.I took no crap from wind up merchant!!!

I'm no tough guy, but the stigma of the foreigner is strong so Koreans don't know how to react. Foreigners here are painted in the media as rapists, drug fiends and murderers. You get one banging on the door and you get scared! Always worked so far, thanks racist media!
But you are right, back home sounds horrible. I was always a quiet lad back home, and always remember being surrounded by street violence. I can't imagine it's got any better. :-\
Re: I punched the neighbors door number off!
All the older rental houses in Australia have the fuse boxes outside on the side of the house and the fuses are removable.
Not many people think of it mate, but if someone takes no notice you rip all their fuses out and throw them away; end of party.

That's a good idea.
Not a peep out of them after my banging and shouting episode last night so maybe they got the message. Annoying really because the wife had asked them most civilly to please keep it down a little two nights in a row. The problem with Koreans is that apparently they don't understand that other people exist. I know that sounds strange but it's seemingly true. They recognise family and close friends only. Beyond that circle and they get lost. They feel no issues with parking in the middle of a crossing as the light turns green for pedestrians or making a racket that disturbs neighbors. My pet peeve is their inability to walk straight on a footpath. You should never get on a subway in Seoul! Chaos! I can give numerous other examples of this, personally I just think it's rudeness with a bit of ignorance thrown in.
So a Korean being polite and making a request is pretty useless here. You've got to snarl a bit and bang on the door. A sad state of affairs, and not what I wanted but there you go. :-\
Re: I punched the neighbors door number off!
Good for you Miles.I fooking hate noisy neighbors with a passion.Way back I used to live in an apartment for years and could fill many pages with incidents.I told one suburban puffed up psuedo gansta with his stereo thumping my walls every night after work that the next time he insisted on being a part of my life,on my time....he could rest assured that I would be a part of his in a real and unrelenting way.........Lil feg called the cops and said I threatened him .....:dontknow:.If that dosent work, break a key off in his door during a rainstorm, garden hose through the window when at work,Downstairs neighbors are in no position to make enemys....Over flow the bath tub 'accidentaly'....shuts that shit right up:-X
