Pet Hates as a Boxing Fan

I hate the way sponsors now have there strap-lines read out by commentators now and there always f**king loads of them "sponsored by Shit Beer, the taste that refreshes form your head to your toe, the warrior within"

I hate undefeated records I would prefer fighters to lose a couple on the way up keep em grounded its not the end of the world

I hate Frank Warren. nuff said

I hate getting in to a conversation with someone who claims to be a boxing fan and here them talk about Kahn being a world Champ or something equally stupid about Tyson being the best current heavyweight (had both these conversations in the last few weeks in the pub)

I hate fighters who go on about it all being about the money why is it only boxing where its all about the money footballers don't, rugby players don't

I could go on but what's yours?

sonny I heard another pub classic...Calzaghe is better than Duran/Hagler/Chavez because he is unbeaten.....Really?:rolleyes:

I don't think many boxers would fight for fun. Money is definitely the no.1 motivation for almost all boxers. Even when they say they want "the title" it's because of the rewards/money/riches it brings.

FOOTBALLERS DON'T?? These are the fuckers who threaten to leave if they don't get paid for a week what a lot of world champs get paid every time they put their body on the line in the ring. For evidence see Stevie 'play Phil Collins ya cunt' Gerrard & Ashley 'pukes while shaggin' Cole's statements whenever Chelsea came calling, than check out how much guys like Nate Campbell & Humberto Soto get paid. Footballers are some of the most money-obsessed bastards in this country. I bet you an average England footballer like Stewart Downing earns more in a year than Calzaghe did last year in which he fought Hopkins & Roy Jones.

There's tons o' things, a lot which have already been mentioned, but one off the top of my head is Joe F*****g Cortez! can't stand the man.

It was a bit tough to compare with footballers as most earn enough to not worry about money but a lot of top footballers don't do it for the Money ask Man City

good ones.. without getting too in depth, because as everyone else i could go on forever, but the main thing is when they're promoting a fight and one or a group of my friends will be like.. OMG that (enter any lopsided match as of recent here) fight is going to be awesome!! did you see the commercial on HBO?!

I mean, yeah, it's great for the sport, and it's great that they're marketing fights and getting viewers.. but deep down you know that it's a terrible fight matchup..

Just a small one.. It's sort of like knowing of a band a year before they're on the radio, and then they have a song on the radio and all of your friends are asking YOU if you've ever heard of the band.. priceless..

Spot on, the sponsor prints are bad enough, the 'toblerones';D though are a bastard, the amount of fighters I've seen back up to the ropes and slip on those fucking things.

4 Major champions in each division...Not the fact there are 4 belts.The fact when you have four champions they dont fight eachother.

Cos nothing compares to a good Unification fight,they are so great.

Announcers who think they are more important than the fighters. Also, too many Sanctioning Bodies. Also, sanctioing fees. Also, crappy undercards on PPV venues. Also, the moron who was the shill for Al Bernstein a few weeks back. The worse announcer in the history of boxing; you know, the guy who had Vic "Hurt and hangimg on " against Arce whom Vic was slaughtering at the time.

I hate how fights are hyped before hand when you think your guy will win and then picked apart with how many reasons this fight was crap in the first place when the outcome doesn't go the way the fan would like.. or how the whole world hangs on floyd's cack (even though they so called hate the guy) while paul williams is eating twinkies every morning trying to make heavyweight cause no one will fight him or how out of the 1,000,000,000 recorded and non recorded losses in this sport only maybe 5 guys afterward say they lost for the real reason, that the other guy was just better...........that and layla ali, john ruiz, and antonio tarver.
