My List Of Heavyweight That I Believe Are Doing The Best They Can
Its so east to point out the lackluster heavyweights. They make up the majority of the division. But there are a few that may not be great, but they do the best they can. Heres who i've got:
Wlad Klitschko
Vitali Klitschko
John Ruiz
Evander Holyfield
Albert Sosnowki
Martin Rogan
Cedric Boswell
Cheers to these guys. I think they do give their best effort almost every time out, and get in the proper training. Sadly, I dont feel like the better prospects out there deserve mention, because most of them dont train properly or dont perform at their best.
Re: My List Of Heavyweight That I Believe Are Doing The Best They Can
There is a difference between doing their best and talent, the Klit brothers have it the rest do not.
Re: My List Of Heavyweight That I Believe Are Doing The Best They Can
I know that. Im just giving these guys there crdit. Obviously someone like Martin Rogan doesnt have the skill of one of the brothers. Thats not my piont though. Its just sad that some of the talented guys of the division throw it all away by being lazy. The Klits are the best heavyweights in the world. They have good skill (Wlad moreso), size, power, but they also train hard, and it shows.

I agree someone like Audley Harrison who was olympic champ came to the pro's as though someone was just going to give him a world title and he paid the price big time. He obviously had "something" but now he didn't make the most of it he just spends his time making shit excuses!

and this is what makes them great fighters, some heavyweight fights i've seen (like peter-chambers yesterday) are so efortless, they act as if they willwalk over their opponent with ease
Re: My List Of Heavyweight That I Believe Are Doing The Best They Can
sorry sorry state, this. Now we have to have a new list called 'boxers who are doing the best they can".
Next it will be "boxers who get credit for showing up for Round 1".
I agree with the original poster, to maintain interest in the utterly disappointing heavyweight division we have to come up with new ways to admire the fighters.

I agree that its sad. Whats even sadder is I cant think of more than a few fighters who meet the criteria.
Re: My List Of Heavyweight That I Believe Are Doing The Best They Can
I think both Arreola & Haye deserve credit for stirring things up and striking up interest.
I also think Dimitrenko & Povetkin are very determined to capture a title.
Re: My List Of Heavyweight That I Believe Are Doing The Best They Can
Mick, I agree with Dimitrenko and Povetkin, both solid fighters. I actually think Alex D. would do very well against the brothers. If fact, I think he is the one guy who can beat Wlad, possibly Vitali. Haye too, he trains hard and seems hungry. But Arreola has a lot to prove. Especially after his last fight when he showed up in poor shape. Right now im not too keen on is attitude toward preparing for a fight, but i hope he can get more erious and prove me wrong.

i aggree with boombooms list...............its nice to see old john ruiz's name mentioned in a positive sense, i've felt for years john does his best, yes he's not that skilled, yes he's fights can frustrate the life out of a person but he sure does give it his best

The think about Ruiz is that he is consistant and always conditioned to go 12 rounds which is more than most heavyweights can say. He always fights to win. I hate watching him fight, but he does deserve credit.
Re: My List Of Heavyweight That I Believe Are Doing The Best They Can
It just shows how hard it is to make it to the top and dominate......
I think once you get to a top level like a Sam Peter there are alot of vices/temptations that get in the way....
Shows how disciplined and focused top level fighters must be.....

James Toney :appl:
His diligent workrate and spartan like preperation for fights is an inspiration to silverback gorillas everywhere.
