Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero kicked off from HBO roster

While Robert Guerrero’s eyebrow is starting to heal, HBO isn’t itching to show the Gilroy junior lightweight’s next fight. Some say HBO is cutting off Guerrero for good because of his quick acceptance of a no-decision in his March 7 bout in San Jose.

“I don’t want to go that far,” HBO Sports chief Ross Greenburg told me Tuesday by telephone. However, Greenburg made it clear Guerrero, the former IBF featherweight champion, has been kicked off the HBO roster and will have to fight his way back because of his unsatisfying two-round fight that ended because of an accidental head butt.

“He’s a tremendous talent,” Greenburg said of the slick and sometimes explosive left-hander, who was in a close fight with unheralded Daud Yordan when the butt occurred, “but he has to go back to the well. It was a very unsatisfying finish.”

To get back on HBO, “he has to fight someone of note,” Greenburg said. “You’re only as good as your last fight.”

That's justified! He was paid full in his last gig but HBO & the public didn't get their money's worth. If he could have fought one more rd & Go for the KO then I'll excuse him if the ref called it off. But He's the one who called that off. He asked the ref to stopped the fight.

There's hundreds of fighters waiting for a shot to be seen in HBO. It's good to see new exciting fighters! How about give the slot to the russian who fought in ESPN last week. That guy is exciting. Give Ruslan Provodnikov the slot!

I rather see Valero on HBO than Guererro!

Well many felt "Guerrero" did not live up to his name... "Guerrero" ...

I don't see the issue. If he can come back with a decent win or two then he is back in the mix. He can't be blamed for what happened, it was an accident after all, but for anyone watching, it was a no show.

I can't blame HBO.
