Boxing to be taught in UK Schools
Police to teach boxing in schools
Boxing classes are to be rolled out across 100 Derbyshire schools following a successful pilot in 12 primary and secondary schools in the county. Forty officers from Derbyshire Constabulary have been trained to teach the sport to young people.
It is hoped the classes will help improve pupils' fitness and discourage them from joining gangs and getting involved in anti-social behaviour.
The hour-long, weekly sessions will start in schools after Easter.
Sgt Steve Osbaldeston said teachers and staff at schools have been very positive and keen to get involved.

"There are a lot of kids out there with not a lot to do," he said. "Our diversionary tactics are to get involved with these kids, get them off the streets and give them something useful to look forward to.
"The younger schools, especially in Derby city, have been asking us to come in because gangs and the culture of gangs has been glamorised to children as young as eight."
Controlled disciple
He added: "We are bringing into their lives respect for each other, respect for the community and discipline. Under no circumstances would we ever allow them to be punching one another."
Boxing coach Darren Comins said that he could already see an improvement in youngsters' behaviour.
"When you have done a four or six-week course, their fitness levels are up, and their self esteem," he said.

What a good idea - a bit of discipline, learning to lose and some self esteem.

Teaching discapline to kids is a tough ask, a boxing gym is a brilliant place for it to happen though, it works so well its astonishing.
But these are kids that choose to and want to be boxers and accept the discapline as a must from the very beginning and if they dont they are out.
An hour a week with the rozzers at school is a noble effort but i dont think its guna make much difference to the little shits of today. But if it gets a few kids wantin to join a boxin school i suppose it helps. But then how much is this costing the goverment?
I know this aint a boxing point but i cant belive the goverment are so blind to the facts of things. 200 years ago bad kids were sparse, 100 years ago the same, 60 years ago the same, Now its like a plaugue of kids who dont know discapline.
Look at all the political correctness crap that has given these kids a protective shield from teachers, police and the law in general, and they are getting out of control,
Instead of looking for new ways to tackle this why dont they have a look at what used to happen when the kids were not out of control. Lets get the cane back at school, police able to teach a kid a lesson and who knows national service?
But ofcourse you gotta look at the parents of these kids, their attitude to life is bad too and they are breeding and making little versions of themselves that are guna be worse.
I give it 18 months before the whole world starts to look like Mad Max 3. Maybe i should lay off the weed.

I like this idea it will help the growth of Boxing and it's good exercise for the kids.
This is a little off-topic, but I have always wanted to see Boxing as another sport in Colleges. I think it would be cool you can give yourself a name, put yourself on the map and it's great for the Universities to have more kids enrolled and more scholarship oppertunites and this will help the growth of Boxing along the way.

I could not agree with you more mate. Unfortunately, the government don't make decisions for the good of the country, they do everything for votes and that's why the UK is a complete fuck up IMO
