WBA Super title and WBA Ordinary Title?? Can Someone Explain This To Me?
Perhaps ive taken too many punches and lost my ability to understand things, but I really dont understand the meaning of this. Its confusing. It takes away from the "real" or "super" champion. What is an ordinary champion? Felix Sturm seems like an ordinary champion. He fights well enough and usually wins, plus he has two arms and legs and looks pretty human. I guess he could be considered an ordinary champion. Chris John too. I think im starting to understand, but maybe someone could explain this to me better.

LOL, you got to love alphabet crap!
My understanding is WBA Ordinary Champion is a Champion of just the WBA.
If a WBA champion also wins an IBF, WBO or WBC title, then he becomes a WBA Super Champion. This means the ordinary title is vacant and can be won by another fighter, thus you then have two WBA champions at one weight......
Of course if that WBA ordinary Champion then goes on to win a different piece of alphabet crap to his Super Champion colleague..... Well, I guess in theory you could have four WBA Champions in one weight division!:o

Thanks man, that clarified it a lot. Thought, I still dont like it. Thats a good about point about the fact that their could be 4 WBA champions. I guess there will have to unification fights among champions from the same organization? Who comes up with this sh@t

The WBA, they want more sanctioning fees. The 2 Russians who fought today for the regular WW title paid a fee. If they waited until Shane defended his belt again, that probably won't happen again until the Fall or mid/late summer @ the earliest.

That was the origninal rule when they created teh "super champion status." But they have abandoned that rule, and now they just use so that they can collect sanctioning fees twice in the same division. They made Margarito a super champion even though he he only held one title, and JMM and Diaz fought for a vacant super title even though the WBA had some european has their lightweight champion.
THe WBA has quickly become the least respected alphabet gang.

Was there any WBA Super and WBA Ordinary unification fight?

What a load of bollocks. Boxing would be much better off without this nonsense TBH.

No. They keep them separate in order to maximize the sanctioning fees. Each has their own mandatories.
