Punisher targets Executioner
Seems like Williams is looking ahead at possible opponents and his camp have named BHOP ( at catch weight). His trainer said that Williams work rate would make the punches thrown by JC look like nothing.
I would have to say that while BHOP has great defence he could only run so long from Williams if he does his normal 100+ punches a round.
You can run but you can't hide.

Be a good fight but can Williams take a punch from the Hop?
Re: Punisher targets Executioner
Agree on whether or not he can take a really good shot but with that many punches heading out the way is there any break to catch they guy. I don't see Hopkons people taking this one just in case, he doesn't want to go maybe another 3 fights being a journeyman he'll want to take fights he's pretty sure would be in the bag, this ones too uncertain.
Re: Punisher targets Executioner
Paul has some big brass balls in calling out the Executioner I'm starting to like the Punisher more and more everyday. I do not think Bernard will take the fight but heck why shouldn't he? Bhops been fighting fighters at catchweights over the years with Pavlik,Winky and 2 weight classes over his limit in Oscar. So why not take on a 6'1 160 pound human windmill with a concrete chin and airplane arms and never seems to get tired and who just dominated the the defensive Winky Wright? Picture Paul beating Bhop and then trying to get Calzaghe out of retirement and imagine how many punches those 2 would throw inside 12 rounds. Its all fantasy but hey 1 can dream cant they?
Re: Punisher targets Executioner
Williams is crazy just jumping from weight class to the next. This time next year he'll weigh 230 lbs and be fighting the klits...As for him fighting bhop, he could take it on workrate, I think he's slick enough to not be made to look foolish like pavlik was, but then again he mite not have enough "mass/ size"
Re: Punisher targets Executioner
Williams is not a big banger, wings wide shots with open hands and has a defense there to be exploited. His sheer output would score points in the early frames but Hopkins would be stronger on the inside and make it rough.Get Pauls head standing high like a bobble head doll midway and his habit of laying in would make Hopkins eyes widen with counters.Hopkins is crusty and collecting social security, but it might just be a Pavlik-like affair down the stretch .
Re: Punisher targets Executioner
I feel Hopkins would be able to counter Williams at will and really break him down. He is a completely different kind of fighter than Wright who needs to impose himself and be able to push forward, landing the jab consistently to set up big shots, Bhop can fight in and out and counterpunch with much more impact, he would make Williams pay for missing and offset his rythym right away imo. I see Hopkins lateral movement and timing exploiting Williams lesser footwork and negating his workrate, as he would undoubtedly be stronger on the inside and able to clinch and turn Williams should he need to. Would certainly be a great fight to watch though, and all kudos to Williams for calling him out. I just don't see it as a fight Williams could likely win so long as Hopkins can still perform as he did against Pavlik. He may also just be to strong entirely as he would be foolish to fight lower than the SMW limit.
Re: Punisher targets Executioner
Williams hasn't faced a fighter with Hopkins size and power.
Hopkins schools him, Probably takes him out late on.

size, they're almost even and Williams beat's him in reach, overall IMO giving him the advantage of SIZE, but yea he's not used to the weight and Hopkins does seem to have more pop in his punches, still don't see him getting much credit if he was to take the fight and win either way
Re: Punisher targets Executioner
I think Hopkins MO is to fight every fighter somewhere outside of their weight class. He dictates all the shots in the fights it seems. Oh well. Honestly I don't see Hopkins looking for "solid win" fights as someone else put it.
I used to say he wouldn't take fights where he had the risk of being KOed. But with him chasing Adamek, Tarver, Pavlik, and Calzaghe (hahahaahhah, I really thought he was gonna pass out from exhaustion, really :shocking:). I think Hopkins is above securing another win for his career. He just wants a couple big money fights and a chance to clean out the division of so old scrubs.
Paul is a little sharper than Pavlik in style, so I see him making it competitive, but not able to close the show (can any1 close the show on Bhop!?)
Williams 116-111ish.
