Promociones del Pueblo has announced the WBC super bantamweight world championship clash between former WBO bantam champ Johnny González and reigning WBC champion Toshiaki Nishioka of Japan on May 23 in the Arena Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Mexican businessmen, Reginaldo and Osvaldo Kuchle have offered two press conferences an in the Federal District and another in Monterrey with the presence of Johnny González, Rafael Márquez and welterweight prospect Alejandro “El Elegido” Barrera among others. It is expected that the event will feature top-level talent with TV in Mexico as well as the United States. Former champion Rafael Marquez will reappear after a year of inactivity against the strong Colombian slugger Jose Francisco Mendoza. Also appearing will be Guadalupe “Bronco” Rosales against Javier Castro, Michael “Murder Man” Medina against Bladimir Hernández, Alejandro Barrera against Honduran Arnold Gamboa at welterweight, and other Mexican prospects such as Juan Carlos Salgado, Marcos “Dorado” Reyes and Victor Zaleta.
The Rafa fight is an eliminator for the WBC super bantam crown...
There's a possibility the reigning Japanese WBC super bantam champ would ruin the planned future match-up of Rafa vs. J-Gonz ... ;)

This would definately be an exciting fight!!! I really hope they make this fight. I am picking Gonzalez if it happens, he has looked good in his last couple of fights and too me , Marquez stays inactive too long. I dont know why golden boy hasn't provided better fights for Gonzalez, cause he is a good little fighter.

Vazquez-Marquez 4 is more exciting to watch imo. I don't know what's up with them. They're BOTH inactive for so long actually.
I'm picking Gonzalez too for same reason.

They had 3 brutal fights in a row in one of boxing's greatest trilogies. I think the time off is understandable.
I'm actually lukewarm on the idea of a fourth match. Not that I wouldn't like to see it, but I want to see them take on other competition before they go on the slide.

Glad they are not having a forth,Marquez and Izzy.Great fights, outstanding trilogy but so was the Rocky series...up to a point. They are battle worn but still should have plenty for other tests and challengers.Gonzalez is on a roooooll and weight definitly paying off.Always exciting and more than willing with killer range.Off the top.Im 50/50 on it.
