Pacman-Hatton why is speed made out to be so important here?
People are saying that speed will be a huge factor here, particularly how much faster Pacman is than Hatton. IMO Hatton's footspeed is almost equal to Pacman's and definitely closer than it was to Mayweather's who Hatton was able to pin on the ropes. Definitely Manny has the faster hands, but IMO its his power not his handspeed that will be really important because anybody can land on Hatton if they have good timing. IMO the big factor here is can Pacquiao stay off the ropes, and if not can he outfight Hatton with his back on the ropes? He used excellent lateral movement against De La Hoya, and I applaud him, but Hatton is a lot quicker of foot than Oscar, and he uses better lateral movement to keep the opponent cornered.
I think Manny will win, but I can easily see Hatton winning, IMO if he keeps Manny on the ropes it will be a war because Manny isn't Mayweather and can't avoid the incoming, all he will be able to do is punch back. Its just some guys you don't bet against, and at this point Manny is one of them.

I think it boils down to how well Mayweather Sr. is for Ricky. No offense to Billy Graham but he's not the best man to have if your corner if the goal is to hit and not be hit.
Another thing people have not talked about, what if the same kind of hook that Hatton landed on Maussa connects with Pac? I don't think he'll get up to be honest.

I see it the opposite way. Hatton of old would have a much better chance of throwing off Manny's rhythm with his no holds barred pressure and infighting.
If he goes in there trying to fight cute, Manny will have a party in there. I see Mayweather Sr as being more detrimental than helpful in this fight.
If Ricky goes in there no holds barred. He has a very good chance in this fight as Manny may have a lot of trougle with that type of pressure.

I see your point like Lamont Brewster against Wladimir Klitschko the second time, but in this case, I think what happens if the ref doesn't let Hatton fight his pressure fight? Then he needs a plan B, I think Manny has a lot of trouble with in and out movement because he likes to dictate the range between himself and his opponent, but that in and out movement is what vexed him so against Marquez.

Perhaps there can be a bit of a balance? I'm pretty sure Ricky will try to rough up Manny a bit. It wouldn't be smart to get too cute, but it never hurts to move you head, use your jab, and give SOME thought to defense.
I don't know which way to pick on this one. Oscar looked so bad in that last fight and Manny looked so good, but how much can we take from that fight? Manny fought great, but Oscar was a shadow of himself. There's almost nothing to use as a yardstick.
