Why does the Football League punish clubs for going bust?

I see Southampton will now have 10 points docked because their parent company has gone into administration. This has always been the leagues's policy and they have applied it several times I think in recent years.

My question is why? When a club goes bust, arn't they down enough, the fans are gutted, the team is demoralised and the future of the club uncertain. Why then does the football leauge then effectively make sure they get relagated again the following year by forcing them to start with a 10 point defecit?


I don't understand this at all, surely its an outrage? :confused:
